DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchaged on July 11

AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND67,500 – VND70,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.

In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND70,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND67,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND69,500 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND68,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND68,500 per kilogram.
Vietnam exported over 156,000 tonnes of pepper worth US$498 million during the first six months of this year, marking a rise of 26.6% in volume, but a drop of 11% in value over the same period from 2022, according to the Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The average export price of the Vietnamese spice in the January - June period stood at US$3,184 per tonne, marking an annual decline of 29.7%.
In June alone, the country's pepper export volume reached an estimated 25,000 tonnes, earning US$92 million, up 3.4% in volume but down 8.2% in value against the same period last year.
The purchasing price of the commodity in June this year was at US$3,667 per tonne, a fall of 11.3% compared to June, 2022.
Pepper exports to the Asian market remained a bright sport, reaching nearly 80,000 tonnes, skyrocketing by 77.2% and accounting for 60% of the country's total export turnover for this kind of spice.
China made up the key market as it imported approximately 48,000 tonnes of pepper, while the Philippines purchased 3,500 tonnes.
Exports to the African market experienced a surge of 38.9%, of which those to Egypt and Senegal enjoyed annual rises of 140% and 104.4% with volumes of 2,179 and 1,523 tonnes, respectively.
Elsewhere, Vietnam’s pepper exports to the United States decreased by 15.5% with roughly 24,000 tonnes.
According to the Vietnam Pepper Association, the purchasing power of pepper around the world will continue to see decreases in the near future amid the impact of the current global economic downturn.
