 Wednesday, June 28,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area rose by VND300 to VND66,300 – VND66,800 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.

Gia Nghia of Dak Nong provided the maximum price of VND66,600/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND66,300/kg. Robusta coffee rose to VND66,300 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND66,500 – VND66,600 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND66,700 – VND66,800 per kg in Dak Nong; to VND66,400 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND66,300 - VND66,400 per kg in Gia Lai.
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam's coffee exports were estimated at 882,000 tonnes, worth more than two billion USD.
The country’s average export price of coffee is at 2,295 USD per tonne, up 2.4% over the same period last year.
From now until the end of the year, coffee exports will still have good prospects when demand increases while supply is not expected to improve. It is forecast that coffee output this year will decrease by 10%-15%/year due to unfavourable weather.
The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai – one of Vietnam’s coffee growing centres - is striving to develop its specialty coffee brand by focusing on increasing the quality and value of products.
At present, farmers in Gia Lai are growing coffee on nearly 99,000 ha, with an average yield of over 3 tonnes per ha, and the total output of more than 267,000 tonnes. Coffee is currently Gia Lai’s main farm produce export with a turnover of 490 million USD in 2022, accounting for nearly 71% of the province's total agro-product export value.
Over the past years, coffee production has contributed to creating direct and indirect jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers. As a result, the living standards of locals, including ethnic minorities, have gradually improved.
