AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 5 months of 2023, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials reached over 1.93 billion USD, down by 5.4% compared to the first 5 months of 2022.

According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and raw materials in May of 2023 increased by 6.8% compared to April of 2023 but decreased by 34.7% compared to May of 2022, reaching 395.01 million USD. Generally, in the first 5 months of 2023, the imports of this commodity group reached over 1.93 billion USD, down by 5.4% compared to the first 5 months of 2022.
Argentina was leading the list of the country’s main animal feed and raw materials import markets, accounting for 24.8% of the total import turnover of this commodity group of the country, reaching over 478.96 million USD, down by 12.9% compared to the first 5 months of 2022. In May of 2023 alone, the figure reached 82.83 million USD, a sharp increase of 118.4% compared to April of 2023 but a decrease of 50.8% compared to May of 2022.
The Indian market ranked, accounting for 17.4% of the total, reaching 336.6 million USD, a sharp increase of 210.8% over the same period of 2022. In May of 2023 alone, the imports from this market reached over 55.34 million USD, down by 30.4% compared to April of 2023 but increased sharply by 111.4% compared to May of 2022.
The US market followed. In May of 2023, the imports from the U.S decreased by 25% compared to April of 2023 and decreased by 50.9% compared to May of 2022, reaching nearly 47.06 million USD. In the first 5 months of 2023, the imports from this market increased slightly by 1% compared to the first 5 months of 2022; reaching 280.9 million USD, accounting for 14.5% of the total turnover.
Meanwhile, the imports of animal feed and raw materials from Southeast Asian market in the first 5 months of 2023 decreased by 18.8% compared to the first 5 months of 2022, reaching 127.67 million USD.
