DAILY: Vietnamese pepper prices decreased by 500 VND on June 9

AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands fell by 500 VND to VND70,000 – 72,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.vn.

In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper fell to VND72,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price to VND70,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND72,000 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND70,000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND71,000 per kilogram.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in May 2023, Vietnam exported 28,759 tonnes of pepper of all kinds (of which black pepper of 25,850 tonnes and white pepper of 2,909 tonnes), up by 9.4% compared to the previous month.
Total export turnover reached 89.6 million USD (of which black pepper of 76.8 million USD and white pepper of 12.8 million USD), up by 7.5% compared to the previous month.
The average export price of black pepper in May reached US$3,540/tonne and white pepper reached US$5,024/tonne, increasing by US$85 and US$154 respectively compared to April 2023.
Exports of businesses outside the Coffee Exporters Association increased by 7.2%. Exports to the Chinese market reached 10,255 tonnes, up 2.6% over the previous month. Exports to the US market also increased by 41.7% to 5,409 tonnes. Followed by the Arab market: 1,680 tonnes, up 157.7%; Germany: 1,028 tonnes, up 8.4%; Netherlands: 1,013 tonnes, up 9.3%.
In the first 5 months of the year, Vietnam exported 131,777 tonnes of pepper of all kinds (of which, black pepper of 119,832 tonnes and white pepper of 11,945 tonnes), valued at 408.9 million USD ( of which, black pepper of 354.1 million USD and white pepper of 54.7 million USD).
Compared to the same period last year, export volume increased by 30%, equivalent to 30,438 tonnes, however, export turnover decreased by 12.7%, equivalent to USD59.5 million. The average export price of black pepper in 5 months reached 3,443 USD/tonne, white pepper reached 4,955 USD/tonne, down 21.7% and 18.4% respectively over the same period.
