 Thursday, May 25,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands fell by 1000 VND to VND71.000 - 74.000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.

Pepper prices have fallen for 3 consecutive days because import and export warehouses were full of stocks, so they temporarily stopped buying, while the speculative giants seem to have bought enough.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper fell to VND74.000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND71.000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND73.000 per kilogram, in Dong Nai province for VND71.000 per kilogram, and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND72.500 per kilogram.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in the first 21 days of May 2023, Vietnam exported 19,637 tonnes of pepper, with a turnover of 58.1 million USD.
Individuals/enterprises outside the Association continue to occupy export market share, in which Ha Thi Bich Ngoc is leading: 4,033 tonnes, Dang Nguyen Ls: 2,104 tonnes. The group of businesses in the Association, led by Nedspice: 1,244 tonnes, Olam Vietnam: 914 tonnes, Phuc Sinh: 896 tonnes, Pearl: 860 tonnes... China is the largest export market of Vietnamese pepper buying 7,845 tonnes.
Regarding imports, in the first 21 days of May 2023, Vietnam imported 2,024 tonnes, of which black pepper of 1,836 tonnes and white pepper of 188 tonnes. Total import turnover reached 7.1 million USD.
Olam, Pearl and Lien Thanh are the main importers and Brazil is the main source of Vietnamese pepper with 1,211 tonnes, accounting for 59.8%.
Vietnam exported 26,291 tonnes, valued at 83.4 million USD in April 2023. The average export price of black pepper in April reached $3,455/tonne and white pepper reached $4,869/tonne.
In the first 4 months of the year, Vietnam exported 103,018 tonnes. Thus, the good news is that the export volume in May 2023 may be higher than last month, and China is still buying strongly. Just over the first 5 months of the year, Vietnam has exported more than 120,000 tonnes of pepper.
