DAILY: Vietnamese rice prices remained unchanged on May 23

AsemconnectVietnam - On Tuesday, the price of rice remained unchanged compared to Yesterday in Vietnam's Mekong Delta provinces, according to Congthuong.vn.

In Can Tho, the prices of dry and fresh rice are still quite stable. Jasmine fresh rice price increased slightly by 100 VND to 6,700 VND/kg. Fresh rice OM 4218 still maintains the level of 6,500 VND/kg.
The rice market in Soc Trang is very stable. Currently, many varieties of rice in Soc Trang are out of harvest season. Some varieties are being harvested at high and stable prices. The price of undried fragrant paddy 5% broken is VND 6,850/kg; fresh rice OM 5451 at 6,800 VND/kg; Fresh rice RVT at 7,000 VND/kg.
In the export market, according to the Vietnam Food Association, the export price of Vietnam's 5% broken rice is at $488/tonne; 25% broken rice at $468/tonne; Jasmine rice is at 553-557 USD/tonne. Many businesses said that the domestic supply is dwindling, while the demand is still high. Output from other rice-producing countries, including Myanmar and Pakistan, will be lower this year.
In the Mekong Delta, farmers in some provinces have started sowing summer-autumn crops. Accordingly, in Kien Giang province, up to now, the locality has sown 170,000 ha/279,000 ha, accounting for 60.9% of the plan. The distribution is concentrated in the districts of Giang Thanh, Giong Rieng, Chau Thanh, Tan Hiep, Hon Dat, Go Quao, Kien Luong and Rach Gia. In An Giang, up to now, the whole province has sown 229/228 thousand hectares, reaching 100.16% of the plan, nearly 20 thousand hectares faster than the same period in 2022.
In the first four months of 2023, the country's rice export volume reached nearly 2.9 million tonnes, equivalent to nearly 1.53 billion USD, up by 40.7% in volume, up by 51.6% in turnover compared to that of the first four months of 2023. In the first 4 months of 2022, the average price reached 527 USD/tonne, up by 7.8%.
The Philippines still tops Vietnam's rice consumption, accounting for 44.4% of the total volume and 42.4% of the country's total rice export turnover, reaching 1.29 million tonnes, equivalent to 647.54 million USD, the average price was 503 USD/tonne, up by 40.6% in volume, up by 53.4% in turnover and 9.1% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2022.
The Chinese market followed, accounted for 17.5% of the total volume and accounted for 19.2% of the total turnover, reaching 507,066 tonnes, equivalent to 292.56 million USD, the average price reached 577/tonne, a sharp increase of 70.8% in volume and 88.3% in turnover; prices increased by 10.3% compared to the first 4 months of 2022.
The Indonesian market ranked third with 306,496 tonnes, equivalent to 149.07 million USD, priced at 486.4 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 2,498% in volume and 2,531% in turnover and a slight increase of 1.3% in price compared to the first 4 month of 2022, accounting for 10.6% of the total volume and 9.8% of the country's total rice export turnover.
Meanwhile, the exports to RCEP FTA markets reached 2.31 million tonnes, equivalent to over 1.19 billion USD, up by 66.9% in volume, up by 80.4% in turnover and the exports to FTA CPTTP markets reached 209,918 tonnes, equivalent to 106.6 million USD, up by 33.3% in volume and 35.8% in turnover.
