DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices fell by 100 VND on April 28

AsemconnectVietnam - On Friday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area fell by 100 VND to VND50,900 – 51,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.com.

Cư M'gar of Dak Lak provided the maximum price of VND51,500/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND50,900/kg. Robusta coffee fell to VND51,100 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND51,400- 51,500 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND51,300-51,400 per kg in Dak Nong; to VND51,400 per kg in Kon Tum, and to VND51,300-51,400 per kg in Gia Lai.
Discounts for Vietnamese coffee extended this week due to high global prices as well as scarce supplies as farmers sold most of their stocks, while premiums narrowed in Indonesia as supplies started to come in, traders said on Thursday. July robusta coffee gained $27 over the past week, settling at $2,413 as of Wednesday's close.
Traders in Vietnam offered 5% black and broken-grade 2 robusta at a discount of $120-$130 per tonne to the July contract, compared with last week's discount of $30-$50."London prices keep rising. It hit a 12-year high on Monday due to scarce supplies," said a trader based in the coffee belt. "Farmers have nothing to offer now and most of the beans are now in exporters' hands," the trader said, adding trade was tepid.
The Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association held a seminar on April 27 looking back on five editions of the annual Vietnam Amazing Cup which aims to discover and honour specialty coffee manufacturers, roasters and traders, contributing to improving the value of Vietnamese specialty coffee.The competition was held for the first time at the seventh Buon Ma Thuot coffee festival in 2019.Over the past five years, the competition has attracted 207 participating units, with 339 samples. As a result, 250 samples have met specialty coffee standards according to the international rating scale.Speaking at the event, President of the association Trinh Duc Minh said through the competitions, all coffee-growing regions in Vietnam have shown their potential to produce specialty coffee. Of them, the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has demonstrated its advantages in developing robusta coffee both in terms of quantity and quality.
