DAILY: Vietnamese coffee prices decreased by 100 VND on April 26

 Wednesday, April 26,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, Robusta coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands, the country's largest coffee-growing area fell by 100 VND to VND51,100 – 51,600 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi.com.

Cư M'gar of Dak Lak provided the maximum price of VND51,600/kg, while traders in Lam Dong province offered the lowest price of VND51,100/kg. Robusta coffee decreased to VND51,100 per kg in Bao Loc, Di Linh, and Lam Ha; to VND51,500- 51,600 per kg in Dak Lak; to VND51,400-51,500 per kg in Dak Nong; to VND51,500 per kg in Kon Tum, and at VND51,400-51,500 per kg in Gia Lai.
In the first quarter of the year, Vietnamese coffee exports reached 552,610 tonnes, worth approximately US$1.23 billion, marking a drop of 5.0% in volume and 5.4% in value over the same period from 2022.
The average export price of Vietnamese coffee in March surged by 5.5% to reach US$2,293 per tonne compared to February and up 2.0% compared to March 2022.
However, the country’s average coffee export price in the first quarter of the year dropped by 0.3% on-year to US$2,222 per tonne.
In the crop year of 2022/23, coffee production is expected to decrease by 10-15% over last year to about 1.47 million tonnes, according to the Vietnam Cocoa Coffee Association (Vicofa). Reduction in coffee growing areas as farmers switch to other, more effective crops such as durian, avocado, or intercropping in the garden was attributed to the fall in outputs.
Last year, Vietnam was the world's second-largest coffee exporter, with more than 1.78 million tonnes, worth over 4 billion USD and an average price of 2,293 USD per tonne.
However, Vicofa said that the country's coffee industry still faces many challenges in the balance of supply and demand, the prosperity of coffee growers, accountability, domestic consumption, climate change, and new regulations of other import countries.
On the stock market, the group of coffee businesses is mainly small-scale, and the stock price from the beginning of 2023 to now has been traded flat and has low liquidity, such as the PCF of Petec Coffee JSC.
