 Wednesday, April 19,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - On Wednesday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND63,000 – 66,000 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.

In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper rose to VND66,000 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price stayed at VND63,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND65,000 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND63,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND64,000 per kilogram.
Vietnam black pepper price traded at 3,225 USD/tonne (500 g/l type), at 3,275 USD/tonne (550g/l type). Price of white pepper is priced at $4,780/tonne.
Evaluation of the market last week, the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association said that in South Asia, Indian pepper prices continued to be stable since mid-March. Sri Lankan domestic pepper prices increased in the past two weeks because the Sri Lankan Rupee rose 1% against the USD (319.89 LRK/USD).
In Southeast Asia, Indonesia's domestic and international traded pepper prices increased last week, thanks in part to a 1% increase in the Indonesian Rupiah against the USD (IDR 14,823/USD).
Local prices of Malaysian black pepper fell last week. Meanwhile, the other types are unchanged. Meanwhile, Vietnam's domestic and export pepper prices are unchanged. The domestic market is in a quiet phase despite the end of this year's harvest.
In terms of exports in the first quarter of 2023, exports to China increased dramatically. Exports to some other markets increased such as Iran by 461%; Türkiye increased by 331.3%; Egypt by 218.4%; Senegal increased by 148.8%... Meanwhile, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and India decreased.
The reason may be due to the economic crisis, so they limit buying. Therefore, it can be seen that Vietnamese businesses have been very active in exploiting niche markets, new markets to avoid depending on a few leading pepper importing countries.
Following are domestic pepper prices on April 19, 2022, in the main pepper growing and consumption regions:
