AsemconnectVietnam - On Monday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained unchanged at VND63,000 – 65,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.

In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper stayed at VND65,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND63,000 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND65,000 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND63,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND64,000 per kilogram.
By the end of the first quarter of 2023, domestic pepper prices increased by an average of 5,500 VND/kg, despite being in the midst of a busy harvest.
The market recovered because importing countries returned to buy goods, especially China, and were concerned that the output of the new harvest was not as expected.
However, towards the end of the quarter, the momentum slowed down, and showed signs of deceleration when entering the second quarter of 2023.
Newly harvested pepper this year started to hit the market, helping to relieve some of the supply. But according to experts, the forecasted output is low, so the sales volume is also limited because the psychology of farmers is increasing.
Importers showed signs of increasing purchase orders in the third and fourth quarters of 2023, but the transaction volume was not much.
Commenting on pepper prices this week and April 2023, experts have the same opinion that it is not possible to recover strongly, in the context that the USD is showing signs of recovery. In terms of supply and demand, there is still a struggle between buyers and sellers.
The market fluctuates in a narrow range at times, but the medium-term uptrend is still stronger. Although Brazil and Indonesia will come here to harvest a new crop after Vietnam, experts believe that the output of other countries is not as expected. This reinforces the long-term bullish belief of pepper at the end of this year.
According to preliminary statistics, Vietnam's pepper exports in March 2023 are forecast to reach over 36,000 tonnes. Of which, China imported over 14,000 tonnes. Vietnam's total pepper exports in 3 months reached more than 76,000 tonnes, up 40% compared to the first 3 months of 2022 (54,615 tonnes) and up 23% compared to the first 3 months of 2021 (61,584 tonnes).
