Imports of materials for animal feed production in February and first two months

AsemconnectVietnam - The preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs showed that, Vietnam’s imports of corn of all kinds in the first two months of 2023 reached over 1.42 million tonnes, worth of over 477.69 million USD, down by 9.6% in volume, down by 5.3% in turnover but up by 4.8% in price compared to the first 2 months of 2022.

In the first two months of 2023, the country's wheat imports reached 620,547 tonnes, equivalent to over 229.33 million USD, up by 6.5% in volume, up by 9.2% in turnover over the same period of 2022.
Meanwhile, the whole country imported 301,876 tonnes of soybean, worth of nearly 213.33 million USD in the first two months of this year, down by 19% in volume, down by 7.3% in turnover but increasing 14.5% in price over the same period in 2022. Vietnam’s corn imports decreased in February and first 2 months of 2023
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s imports of corn of all kinds in the first two months of 2023 reached over 1.42 million tonnes, worth of over 477.69 million USD, the average price of 336.3 USD per tonne, down by 9.6% in volume, down by 5.3% in turnover but up by 4.8% in price compared to the first 2 months of 2022.
In February of 2023 alone, the country’s imports of corn reached 638,359 tonnes, equivalent to 215.57 million USD, the average price was 337.7 USD/tonne, down by 20.7% in volume, down by 20% in turnover, but the price increased by 0.9 % compared to January of 2023. In comparison with February of 2022, the figure increased sharply by 25.8% in volume, 31.5% in turnover and 4.5% in price.
Leading corn import markets in February and first two months
Brazil was leading the list of the country’s main corn import markets in the first two months of 2023, accounting for over 57% of the country's total corn import volume and turnover, reaching 820,119 tonnes, equivalent to nearly 272.64 million USD, the price was at 332.4 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 242% in volume, 261.3 % in turnover and 5.6% in price over the same period of 2022.
In February of 2023 alone, the country’s imports of corn from Brazil reached 375,669 tonnes, equivalent to 125.75 million USD, with the price of at 334.7 USD/tonne, down by 19.5% in volume, down by 18.3% in turnover compared to January of 2023, the price increased slightly by 1.5%. In comparison to February of 2022, the country’s imports of corn from Brazil increased sharply by 257% in volume, 278% in turnover, and the price increased by 5.9%.
The second largest market was Argentina. In the first two months of 2023, the country’s imports of corn from Argentina reached 277,945 tonnes, equivalent to 93.26 million USD, priced at 335.5 USD/tonne, accounting for nearly 20% of the total volume and total import turnover of maize of the whole country, a sharp decrease of 66% in volume, a decrease of 65% in turnover but a slight increase of 3.2% in price compared to the first 2 months of 2022.
The next was the Indian market. In the first 2 months of 2023, the country’s imports of corn from India reached 233,789 tonnes, equivalent to 76.66 million USD, priced at 327.9 USD/tonne, accounting for over 16% of the total volume and total import turnover of corn of the country, down by 35.2% in volume, down by 31% in turnover but price increased by 6.4% over the same period last year.
Vietnam’s imports of wheat in February and first 2 months of 2023
The preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs showed that, in February of 2023, Vietnam imported 384,070 tonnes of wheat, equivalent to 142.8 million USD, the average price was 371.8 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 62.4% in terms of volume, an increase of 65% in turnover and an increase of 1.6% in price compared to January of 2023. In comparison to February of 2022, it also increased by 55.2% in volume, increased by 51.2% in turnover but decreased by 2.6% in price.
Totally in the first 2 months of 2023, the country's wheat imports reached 620,547 tonnes, equivalent to over 229.33 million USD, up by 6.5% in volume, up by 9.2% in turnover compared to the same period of 2022, the average price reached 369.6 USD/tonne, up by 2.5%.
Leading wheat import markets in February and the first two months of 2023
In February of 2023, wheat imports from the main market Australia increased sharply by 98.6% in volume and 96.8% in turnover, but decreased by 0.9% in price compared to January of 2023, reaching 224,188 tonnes, equivalent to 80.84 million USD, the price was at 360.6 USD/tonne. In comparison to February of 2022, it also increased by 102% in volume, 104% in turnover and slightly increased by 0.9% in price.
Totally for the first two months of 2023, wheat imports from the Australian market accounted for nearly 54.3% of the total volume and accounted for 53.2% of the country's total wheat import turnover, reaching 337,064 tonnes, equivalent to 121.9 million USD, the average price was 361.7 USD/tonne, up by 1.7% in volume, 2.4% in turnover and 0.7% in price compared to the first two months of 2022.
Brazil followed and accounted for over 34% of the total volume and total turnover, reaching 212,891 tonnes, equivalent to 78.48 million USD, the average price was 368.6 USD/tonne, increasing sharply in volume, turnover and price compared to the first 2 months of 2022, with an increase of 114.3 %, 141% and 12.5% respectively.
Then Canadian market with 40,287 tonnes, equivalent to 17.23 million USD, priced at 427.6 USD/tonne, a very strong increase of 1.744% in volume, up by 1.634% in turnover but down by 5.9% in price over the same period last year, accounting for 6.5% of the total volume and 7.5% of the total import turnover of wheat of the country.
The imports of wheat from the US market only reached 8,031 tonnes, equivalent to 3.52 million USD, a sharp decrease of over 89% in both volume and turnover compared to the first 2 months of 2022.
Vietnam’s soybean imports in February and the first 2 months of 2023
In the first 2 months of 2023, the whole country imported 301,876 tonnes of soybeans, worth nearly 213.33 million USD, with an average price of 706.7 USD/tonne.
The preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs showed that, Vietnam’s soybean imports in February of 2023 reached 233,149 tonnes, equivalent to 167.17 million USD, the average price was 717 USD/tonne, an increase of 239.4% in volume and 262.2% in turnover compared to January of 2023, the price increased by 6.7%. In comparison to February of 2022, the figure was 24% increase in volume, 42% increase in turnover and 14.5% increase in price.
In the first 2 months of 2023, the whole country imported 301,876 tonnes of soybean, worth of nearly 213.33 million USD, the average price was 706.7 USD/tonne, down by 19% in volume, down by 7.3% in turnover but increasing 14.5% in price over the same period in 2022. The US market was leading the list of the country’s soybean import markets in February and the first two months of 2023
In February of 2023, the country’s imports of soybean from the U.S increased sharply by 172.6% in volume and 199% in turnover compared to January of 2023, the price increased by 9.7%, reaching 154,190 tonnes, equivalent to 112.13 million USD, priced at 727.2 USD/tonne. In general, in the first 2 months of 2023, soybean imports from this market reached 210,754 tonnes, equivalent to 149.63 million USD, accounting for nearly 69.8% of the total volume and accounting for 70% of the total soybean import turnover of the country.
Brazil was the second largest soybean import market of Vietnam in the first two months of 2023 with 66,085 tonnes, equivalent to 45.54 million USD, priced at 689 USD/tonne, accounting for over 21% of the total volume and total import turnover of the country, fell sharply by 68.5% in volume, down by 65% in value but the price increased by 11% over the same period last year.
The imports of soybean from the Canadian market in the first 2 months of 2023 reached 20,226 tonnes, equivalent to 14.82 million USD, priced at 732.5 USD/tonne, down by 23.3% in volume, down by 13.4% in turnover but the price increased by 13% over the same period last year. The imports from Cambodia market reached 220 tonnes, equivalent to 171,300 USD, priced at 778.6 USD/tonne, down by over 93% in both volume and value but up by 8.7% in price.
