AsemconnectVietnam - On Thursday, domestic pepper prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands decreased by 500 VND to VND63,500 – 65,500 per kg compared to Yesterday, according to Kinhtedothi,vn.

In Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the maximum price for pepper decreased to VND65,500 per kg, while in Gia Lai province, the lowest price at VND63,500 per kg. Farmers in Binh Phuoc sold pepper for VND64,500 per kilogram, Dong Nai province for VND63,500 per kilogram and in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces for VND64,500 per kilogram.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association, in the first two months of 2023, Vietnam exported 40,814 tonnes of pepper, including 37,310 tonnes of black pepper and 3,504 tonnes of white pepper, up 33% over the same period last year. Total export turnover reached USD128.6 million, of which USD111.8 million was black pepper and USD16.8 million of white pepper, down 9% over the same period last year.
Pepper’s average export price stood at 3,177 USD per tonne, a fall of 31.4% compared to last year's corresponding period. In terms of the domestic market, prices of both black and white pepper in February increased sharply due to growing demand from the Chinese market.The ministry has said the global pepper market is forecast to recover due to increasing demand from importers.
