Vietnam’s export figures in first half of 2015

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s export of goods was estimated at US$ 77.7 billion in the first half of this year. The figure was up slightly by 9.3 per cent year – on – year.
In the reviewed period, the country’s export of farm, forestry and seafood totaled US$ 14.42 billion.

Vietnam’s export turnover was estimated at US$ 77.7 billion in the first six months of this year, increased by 9.3 per cent over the same period last year. Excluding the price factor, the total export turnover in the first half of this year was estimated at $ 80.7 billion, up by 13.4 per cent year – on – year.
Of the figure, the export turnover of domestic economic sector was at $ 22.8 billion, down by 2.9 per cent; and that of foreign invested sector (including crude oil) was at $ 54.9 billion, up by 15.3 per cent.
In the first six months of this year, the country’s export of cell phones and accessories reached $ 14.7 billion, up by 27.1 per cent; textiles and garments - $ 10.1 billion, up by 9 per cent; computers, electronic products and components - $ 7.4 billion, up by 60.4 per cent; footwear of all kinds - $ 5.9 billion, up by 21.9 per cent; other machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts - $ 3.8 billion, up by 10.4 per cent; wood and furniture - $ 3.2 billion, up by 8.8 per cent; cashew nuts - $ 1.1 billion, up by 28.4 per cent; handbags, wallets, suitcases, hats and umbrellas - $ 1.5 billion, up by 17.5 per cent.
However, the export of crude oil was down by 45.7 per cent to $ 2.2 billion; seafood – down by 14.5 per cent to $ 3 billion; coffee – down by 34.8 per cent to $ 1.4 billion; rice – down by 8.9 per cent to $ 1.3 billion; means of transport and spare parts – down by 11.3 per cent to $ 2.7 billion; and iron and steel of all kinds – down by 14.1 per cent to $ 856 million.
In the first six months of this year, the U.S was still leading in the list of the country's major export markets with the export turnover of $ 15.7 billion, up by 18.6 per cent over the same period last year. It was followed by EU with $ 14.8 billion, up by 11.6 per cent; ASEAN - $ 9.3 billion, down by 0.8 per cent; China - $ 7.7 billion, up by 3.6 per cent; Japan - $ 6.7 billion, down by 6.7 per cent; and South Korea - $ 3.7 billion, up by 22.3 per cent.
In June only, the country exported $ 14.3 billion worth of goods, up by 4.4 per cent over the previous month.
Export of farm, forestry and seafood totaled US$ 14.42 billion
Vietnam earned US$ 14.42 billion from farm, forestry and seafood exports in the first half of this year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In June only, the country exported $ 2.6 billion worth of farm, forestry and seafood products.
In the first six months of this year, the country exported 687,000 tons of coffee, down by 35.8 per cent in quantity and 35.1 per cent in value over the same period last year.
The export of rice also decreased by 6.2 per cent in quantity and 10.5 per cent in value year – on – year to 3.055 million tons valued at $ 1.318 billion.
China was still leading in the list of the country's major rice export markets in the first five months of this year. However, the country’s export of rice to Malaysia increased sharply by 2.84 folds in quantity and 2.33 folds in value over the same period of 2014.
In the first half of the year, the country’s export of tea reached 54,000 tons worth of $ 90 million, down by 6.7 per cent in quantity and 4.1 in value year – on – year. The export of tea to Pakistan – the country’s biggest tea export market of Vietnam – saw increase by 49.95 per cent in quantity and 49.19 per cent in value year – on – year.
The export of cashew nuts totaled 150,000 tons worth of $ 1.08 billion in the first six months of this year, up by 14 per cent in volume and 28.2 per cent in value. The average cashew export price in the first five months of this year was $ 7,080 per ton, up by 11.64 per cent year – on – year. The U.S, China and the Netherlands were the biggest cashew export markets, accounted for 39.98 per cent; 13.12 per cent and 10.89 per cent of the country’s total export of cashew nuts.
The export of cassava and products in the first six months of this year was estimated at 2.83 million tons worth of $ 844 million, up by 50.5 per cent in quantity and 42.6 per cent in value over the same period last year. China was the main export market of cassava and products, accounted for 88.71 per cent of the total market share.
Exports of rice saw slight decrease
By the end of June, Vietnam’s export of rice reached only 3.055 million tons worth of US$ 1.318 billion, down by 6.2 per cent in quantity and 10.5 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
According to the latest report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the average rice export price in the first five months of this year was at $ 435.18 per ton, down by 3.78 per cent year – on – year.
In the first five months of this year, the country’s export of rice to China saw decrease of 19.61 per cent in quantity and 22.61 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2014. However, China was still the country’s biggest rice export market with 36 per cent of the total market share.
Especially, the export of rice to Malaysia increased sharply by 2.84 folds in quantity and 2.33 folds in value year – on – year and accounted for 7.7 per cent of the total.
Malaysia has become the third biggest rice export market of Vietnam.
