AsemconnectVietnam - Cuu Long Handicraft Cooperative has carried out many studies aiming at bringing natural coconut beauty products to consumers. Its typical product is beauty mask made from coconut milk – Cuu Long coconut mask.

Established in 1999, Cuu Long Handicraft Cooperative is one of enterprises operating in the traditional sector of Ben Tre province. Products of Cuu Long Cooperative have always associated with coconuts and Ben Tre people. Specifically, the coconut mask produced from coconut milk – one new product in the field of cosmetics is the 10-year research result of Cuu Long Cooperative’s members and it has totally persuaded domestic and foreign customers in markets such as Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Apart from creating opportunities for Vietnamese people to use high quality natural products with reasonable price, Cuu Long Handicraft Cooperative contributes on increasing the value of coconut trees in Ben Tre province.

To make the mask of coconut, coconut milk is taken from old coconuts and fermented with impact of microorganisms Acetobacter. According to analysis results, the product has some nutrients such as protein, calcium, sodium which have good effects on the skin like skin cleaning, skin brightening, especially skin moisturizing. Nutrients are in coconut milk and do not disappear after processing. Besides, coconut mask products are completely pure with no chemicals and safe to use. This product has been tested many times by the Ben Tre Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Testing Centre and it was granted for quality registration in Ben Tre Department of Health. Cuu Long has also launched massage coconut oil, containing 100 percent of pure coconut oil which is used for skin and hair.   

To achieve the success above, Cuu Long Handicraft Cooperative approached and applied new technology and tested many times to perfect these new products. As one of the pioneers in the study of the coconut masks, Ms Truong Thi Cam Hong, a member of the cooperative shared: "Ben Tre is famous for coconut in terms of quality and quantity; coconut milk contains many nutrients, but we have not fully exploited its value for cosmetics. I came with an idea of creating a high-end cosmetic product from coconut milk in order to meet customers’ demand”. The mask of coconut is certificated as the typical product of Ben Tre province in 2013 and Cuu Long Handicraft Cooperative has been awarded certifications of appreciation for its positive contribution to the development of the coconut industry by Ben Tre Province People’s Committee.

Cuu Long Handicraft Cooperative also attaches special importance to cosmetic - food safety. Apart from improving productivity and product quality, Cuu Long Handicraft Cooperative also invested in machines and equipment to serve for production. In addition to the existing key products such as squared - coconut jelly, coconut jelly fake squid, filamentous jelly coconut, filamentous and the most recent beauty mask, Cuu Long Cooperative is on the way to study and introduce new products to customers.
