Tuesday, May 10,2022AsemconnectVietnam - Among the top 5 agricultural and aquatic products with export turnover of billions USD in the first 4 months of the year, the exports of wood and wood products are forecasted to grow by 8% in the first half of 2022.
Wood exports grow positively
According to the data from the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of wood and wood products in April of 2022 was estimated at 1.5 billion USD, up by 7.3% compared to April of 2021.
Generally, in the first 4 months of 2022, the export turnover of wood and wood products was estimated at 5.48 billion USD, up by 4.9% over the same period of 2021.
In the structure of exported wood and wood products, the export turnover of wood products in April of 2022 was estimated at 1.13 billion USD, up by 6.4% compared to April of 2021. In the first four months of 2022, the export of wood products reached 4.14 billion USD, up by 2.9% over the same period of 2021.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 4 months of 2022, there were 5 products/product groups with export value of over 1 billion USD, including wood and wood products.
According to the Vietnam Wood and Forest Products Association, currently, the export trend of wood and wood products is focusing on high value-added items such as wooden frame chairs, living room and dining room furniture, bedroom furniture, etc. and these are all Vietnam's strengths.
In the current situation, although wood industry enterprises still face many difficulties, such as the prolonged situation of Covid-19 epidemic causing labor shortage, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has pushed up gasoline prices, affecting the price of petroleum products and impact on production costs.
In particular, the price of wood materials continued to increase, but businesses still had to produce because orders had been placed previously. However, with constant efforts, wood industry enterprises have overcome difficulties, bringing export turnover of wood and wood products to positive growth in the first months of 2022.
With positive results achieved in the first months of 2022, it is forecast that Vietnam's exports of wood and wood products in the first half of 2022 will increase from 5% to 8% compared to the same period of 2021.
