Vietnam – India bilateral trade exchange in January of 2022
Monday, February 28,2022AsemconnectVietnam - By the end of January, Vietnam had a trade surplus of nearly 40 million USD in trade exchange with India.
According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, the export turnover of Vietnamese goods to India in January of 2022 reached 713.1 million USD, up by 27.9% over the previous month and up by 10.6% compared with the same period of 2021.
Vietnam’s imports of goods from India in the first month of 2022 increased sharply, especially corn, according to the latest information from the General Department of Customs.
Vietnam's imports from India reached 674.5 million USD in the first month of this year, a sharp increase of 36.3% over the same period last year.
Leading items exported by Vietnam to India in the first month of 2022
Phones and components led the export turnover to India. In January of 2022, the country’s export turnover of this item to India reached 158 million USD, up by 105.8% over the previous month, accounting for 20.5% of the export proportion.
The second position was the group of other common metals and products, reaching 73.2 million USD, down by 7.7% compared to the previous month and up by 23.9% compared to January of 2021, accounting for 10.2% of the total.
Meanwhile, the exports of computers, electronic products and components in January of 2022 reached over 65.4 million USD, down by 17% compared to the previous month and accounted for 9.1% of the total value of Vietnam's exports to India.
The country’s exports of goods to India in the first month of 2022 in general increased in turnover compared to the same period of 2021. In which, the exports increased quite well in commodity groups such as chemicals up by 49%; plastic materials increased by 39.5%; rubber increased by 67.5%; chemical products increased by 76.2%; plastic products increased by 60%; pepper increased by 95.3%; seafood products increased by 73.8%.
However, the exports of several groups of items declined export turnover; the exports of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts decreased by 8.7%; iron and steel products down by 20.9%; means of transport and spare parts decreased by 15.4%; iron and steel of all kinds decreased by 22.9%; animal feed and raw materials decreased by 85.6%.
Leading items imported by Vietnam from India in the first month of 2022
In January of this year, many groups of imported goods reached tens of millions of USD. In which, the imports of chemicals reached 53.7 million USD, increased sharply by 49.2% over the same period last year.
The other notable large commodity groups include: other common metals and products; computers, electronic products and components; machine, equipment, tools and spare parts, etc.
Corn and cotton were the major and high-growth import groups from India. 0Specifically, the imports of corn reached 79 million USD, rocketed by 450%; while the imports of cotton reached 72 million USD, up by 166%.
In 2021, the imports from India reached 6.95 billion USD, up by 56% compared to 2020. Iron and steel had the largest turnover, reaching nearly 1.4 billion USD, accounting for about 20% of total import turnover of goods from India.
