Exports of wood and forest products in 2021 may reach 15.6 billion USD
Monday, December 20,2021AsemconnectVietnam - According to the General Department of Forestry (MARD), in the first 11 months of 2021, the exports of timber and non-timber forest products may reach 14.27 billion USD, up by 21% compared to 2020.
The country’s exports of timber and non-timber forest products 2021 will reach 15.6 billion USD, up by 18% compared to 2020. In which, the exports of wood and products will reach 14.5 billion USD, up by 17.2% compared to 2020; the exports of non-timber forest products are estimated at about 1.1 billion USD, up by 29.5%, including: products from rattan and bamboo - 841 million USD, up by 38.1%; cinnamon and anise products - 265.4 million USD, up by 8.1%.
Regarding the export markets, Vietnam’s timber and forest products are exported to over 140 countries and territories, of which the main markets are the United States, Japan, China, EU and South Korea with a total export value estimated at 13.98 billion USd, accounting for 89.5% of the country's export value of forest products.
In which, exports to the US market are estimated at 9.1 billion USD, up by 21.4% compared to 2020; the exports to the Japanese market are estimated at 1.45 billion USD, up by 6.7% compared to 2020; the exports to the Chinese market are estimated at 1.5 billion USD, up by 23.7% over the same period of 2020; and the exports to the EU market are estimated at 1.1 billion USD, up 14.4% compared to 2020.
The exports of wood and wood products of FDI enterprises are estimated at 7.38 billion USD, up by 20.9% compared to 2020, accounting for 47.3% of export value of forest products.
In the opposite direction, in 2021, Vietnam’s imports of wood and wood products are estimated at 2.97 billion USD, up by 16.2% compared to 2020. In which, the imports of wood material will reach 2.42 billion USD, up by 1.1%; wood products may reach 840.5 million USD, up by 401.6 %. The value of wood materials imported from a number of developed countries with advanced forest governance increased sharply, such as the imports from Australia increase by 101%, from Brazil increase by 96%, from Chile increase by 41%, from France increase by 27.8%, from Germany increase by 18.3%, from the United States increase 12.5%, and from Japan increase by 9.7%.
