According to data released by the General Statistics Office, the industrial production index in the first 5 months of 2025 increased compared to the same period last year in 61 localities, with Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and Cao Bang province decreasing by 3.4% and 3.3% respectively.
Some localities had a fairly high IIP index thanks to the processing and manufacturing industry; the electricity production and distribution industry increased highly. On the contrary, some localities had a low or decreasing IIP index due to the processing and manufacturing industry; the mining industry and the electricity production and distribution industry increased low or decreased.
Top 5 localities with the highest industrial production index in the country
Notably, the locality with the strongest increase in the industrial production index was Phu Tho with an increase of 45.4% compared to the same period last year. The next was Nam Dinh with an increase of 29.2%; Bac Giang increased by 27.6%; Hoa Binh increased by 25.6%, Quang Ngai increased by 22.4%. Some other localities such as Ha Nam, Son La, Hue, Tien Giang, Bac Kan also had high industrial production index increases.
Phu Tho led the country in industrial production index with an increase of 45.4%
Among the 10 localities with the highest IIP increase in the country, Phu Tho was at the top with an impressive increase of 45.4% in the first 5 months of the year compared to the same period last year.
This result is mainly due to the breakthrough of the processing and manufacturing industry - a sector that plays an important role in the local economic structure. The production index of this industry in Phu Tho increased by 46.7%, far exceeding many other localities. Along with that, the electricity production and distribution industry in the area also recorded a significant increase, contributing to promoting overall growth.
The fact that Phu Tho led the country in industrial production growth in the first 2 months of the year shows positive signs in attracting investment, developing the processing and manufacturing industry and ensuring energy supply, contributing to promoting local economic development.
Nam Dinh industrial production index increased by 29.2%
According to the report of the Nam Dinh Statistics Office, the industrial production index (IIP) in May of 2025 of Nam Dinh province increased by 34.51% over the same period last year and increased by 4.55% compared to April. In the first 5 months of 2025, this index increased by 29.2% over the same period last year.
Some secondary industries had a fairly high industrial production index in the first 5 months of the year compared to the same period last year, such as motor vehicle production increased by 40.26%; metal production increased by 19.73%; paper and paper products production increased by 19.49%; food processing production increased by 17.12%; textiles increased by 16.58%; garment production increased by 9.61%; bed, wardrobe, table and chair production increased by 9.11%.
Totally in the first 5 months of the year, the consumption index of the entire processing and manufacturing industry in Nam Dinh province increased by more than 3 times compared to the same period last year. The Statistics Office of Nam Dinh province explained that this increase was mainly due to the consumption of some key industries, such as textile industry increased by more than 9 times, bed, wardrobe, table and chair production increased by more than 2 times.
Bac Giang - high production of processing and manufacturing industry
In May, industrial production in the province continued to grow positively. In particular, some manufacturing industries increased sharply such as electronic products, electronic components, clothing, beverages, etc.
Specifically, the industrial production value (current price) in May was estimated at more than 78 trillion VND, the total value for 5 months was estimated at 338.8 trillion VND, an increase of 27.06% over the same period last year. The economic sector with foreign investment capital reached the highest, more than 300 trillion VND.
The high industrial production value is mainly due to the large proportion of the electronic components manufacturing industry, typically enterprises under the Hong Hai Group and Luxshare continue to maintain high capacity production and contribute to the industrial production industry. For example, Luxshare Van Trung Limited Company's revenue in May was estimated at more than 7.5 trillion VND; Fukang Technology Co., Ltd. revenue was estimated at VND 21.5 trillion.
Hoa Binh industrial production index increased by 25.6%
In May of 2025, industrial production in Hoa Binh province continued to maintain growth momentum, making an important contribution to the local socio-economic development. Notably, the local industrial production index for the first 5 months increased by 25.6%, especially for the processing and manufacturing industry in the first 5 months of 2025, it increased by 53.6%.

Quang Ngai industrial production index increased by 22.4

Some products with high output growth include petrochemical products increased by 42.17%; fibers increased by 17%; leather shoes increased by 45%; wood chips for paper materials increased by 17.85%; electricity production increased by 43.06% and commercial electricity increased by 17.20%.
