China - the leading importer of textile and footwear accessories in Vietnam in the first 9 months of 2018
Thursday, October 18,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s import of textiles, leather and footwear in Vietnam in September 2018 reached $470 million, up 1.69% over the previous month and up 4.51% in the same month last year.
Generally for the first 9 months of 2018, import value of this group reached over $4.2 billion, up 4.46% over the same period last year.
In September, Vietnam’s imports of textiles, leather and footwear from China reached $192 million, accounting for 40.8% of the total import value of this country, up 3.69% over the month earlier and increased 8.25% over the same month last year; bringing the total import value of this item from China to more than 1.6 billion, up 6.05% over the same period last year.
South Korea is the second largest importer, with more than $59 million, accounting for 12.6% of total turnover, down 4.56% over the previous month but up 8.21% over the same month last year; bringing the total import turnover this item from South Korea to $579 million, up 1.38% over the same period last year.
Third place was the US market with nearly $39 million, accounting for 8.3% of total turnover, down 2.45% over the previous month but up 19.55% over the same month last year; bringing the total import turnover this item from this market to $300 million, up 15.39% over the same period last year. Finally Taiwan (China) with 37 million USD, accounting for 7.9% of total turnover, up 4.55% over the previous month but down 7.23% over the same month last year; bringing the total turnover from this market to more than 338 million, down 10.24% over the same period last year.
In the first nine months of 2018, Vietnam’s imports of textiles, leather and footwear from Canada increased 60.43% to over $24 million; the Netherlands increased by 45.34% to 3.1 million USD; Thailand increased 29.18% to 218 million USD, followed by Indonesia increased 28.49% to 45 million USD.
However, some markets saw a sharp drop in imports including New Zealand, down 59.36 percent from the same period last year to $6.5 million, followed by France by 36.1 percent to $3,2 million, Brazil decreased 33.99% to $70 million, and Poland reduced 21.39% compared to the same period last year to $4 million.
