The U.S was the country’s leading seafood export market in the period with the export turnover of $1.14 billion, up by 9.3 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 17.9 per cent of the total.

The EU ranked second with $1.09 billion, up by 7.7 per cent; and then Japan - $993.76 million, up by 5 per cent; China - $720.19 million, down by 8.1 per cent; and South Korea - $611.82 million, up by 13.1 per cent.

The country’s exports of seafood to the Southeast Asian countries reached $491 million, up by 13.1 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 7.7 per cent of the total.

In the first nine months of this year, the country’s exports of seafood to Cambodia increased sharply by
81.9 per cent to $19.21 million; to the U.A.E – up by 78.8 per cent to $62.16 million; to India – up by 48.5 per cent to $21.53 million; to Egypt – up by 42.9 per cent to $33.87 million; and to Brunei – up by 39.3 per cent to $1.18 million.

However, the country’s exports of seafood to Saudi Arabia decreased by 71 per cent to $14.1 million; to Czech – down by 43.9 per cent to $4.3 million; to Denmark – down by 33.9 per cent to $33.66 million; and to Indonesia – down by 33.6 per cent to $3.06 million.

The country’s exports of shrimp in the first nine months of this year totaled over $2.7 billion, down by 3 per cent year – on – year. According to VASEP, the country’s total shrimp exports are expected to reach nearly $3.8 billion in 2018.

Meanwhile, the exports of Tra fish reached $1.6 billion in the first nine months, up by 24 per cent year – on – year.

The country’s total seafood exports may reach $2.5 billion in the fourth quarter of this year and $8.9 - 9 billion this year, up by 7 per cent compared with 2017, according to VASEP.
