Imports of petroleum fell in quantity but increased in value
Monday, October 22,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s imports of petroleum totaled 9.33 million tons worth of US$6.26 billion in the first nine months of this year, slightly decreased by 1.8 per cent in quantity but increased sharply by 24.9 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Malaysia was leading the list of petroleum import markets of Vietnam in the period with over 2.67 million tons worth of over $1.67 billion, up by 38.6 per cent in quantity and 88.7 per cent over the same period last year.
South Korea ranked second with 2.33 million tons worth of $1.71 billion, up by 9 per cent in quantity and 30.5 per cent in value year – on – year.
Meanwhile, the imports of petroleum from Singapore fell by 40.4 per cent in quantity and 21.8 per cent in
value compared with the same period last year to 2.08 million tons worth of $1.33 billion.
The imports of petroleum from China increased by 44.9 per cent in quantity and 94.8 per cent in value to 1.1 million tons worth of $751.99 million.
Besides, the country’s imports of petroleum from Thailand reached 951,864 tons of petroleum worth of $641.96 million in the period, down by 13.5 per cent in quantity but up by 15.5 per cent in value; from Russia – 60,361 tons worth of $51.24 million, up by 106.3 per cent in quantity and 200.5 per cent in value; and from Hong Kong (CN) reached 102 tons worth of $61,294.
