Of the figure, the country exported over $30.81 billion worth of goods to and imported $8.66 billion worth of goods from the U.S, increased by 12.5 per cent and 40.8 per cent, respectively. So in the first eight months, the country got $22.15 billion of surplus in trade exchange with the U.S, increased slightly by 4.3 per cent over the same period last year.

Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items imported by the country from the U.S in the first eight months of this year with the import value of $2.05 billion, up by 9.8 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 23.7 per cent of the total. 

Cotton ranked second with $1.15 billion, up by 22.5 per cent; and then machines, equipment and spare parts - $643.52 million, up by 6.5 per cent; ordinary metal products - $554.57 million, up by 33.8 times; animal feed and materials - $441.09 million, up by 142.6 per cent; ordinary metals - $339.02 million, up by 52.8 per cent.

The imports of milk and dairy products from the U/S also increased by 99.3 per cent to $78.71 million; iron and steel scraps – up by 89 per cent to $213.03 million; fruit and vegetables – up by 83.5 per cent to $109.32 million; iron and steel of all kinds – up by 78 per cent to $14.95 million.

However, the imports of telephones and components from the U.S decreased sharply by 89.6 per cent to $4.17 million; autos – down by 71.6 per cent; cameras, camcorders and components – down by 70.3 per cent; glass and products – down by 43.3 per cent; and oil products – down by 42.7 per cent.
