Vietnam – Thailand trade exchange reached over US$10 billion in eight months
Wednesday, October 3,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Thailand is now the biggest and the first trade partner of Vietnam in ASEAN that had the bilateral trade exchange of US$10 billion with Vietnam in the first eight months of this year.
In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam exported $ 3.727 billion worth of goods to Thailand, increased by 21 per cent over the same period of 2017.
Telephones and components were the leading item exported by the country to Thailand in the period with the export turnover of $996 million, accounted for 26.7 per cent of the total.
In the period, the exports of iron and steel products to Thailand increased sharply by 75.14 per cent year – on – year; iron and steel of all kinds – up by 64.26 per cent; and computers, electronics and components – down by 10.83 per cent.
Especially, in the first eight months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of coal and petroleum increased by over 2 times year – on – year to $16.8 million and $45.1 million, respectively.
Also in the first eight months of this year, Vietnam imported $7.543 billion worth of goods from Thailand, increased by 14.3 per cent over the same period last year.
By the end of August, Vietnam imported $437.3 million worth of autos and $402.8 million worth of auto components from Thailand.
