Farm-forestry-fishery exports reached US$25.7 billion in 8 months
Thursday, September 13,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of farm-forestry-fishery sector reached US$3.13 billion in August, raising the total value in the first eight months of this year to $25.7 billion, up 7.3 percent year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The country exported about 4.4 million tons of rice worth 2.2 million USD between January-August, up 6.8 per cent in volume and 22.1 percent in value from the same period last year. In August alone, 441,000 tons valued at $209 million was shipped abroad.
Fruit and vegetable exports were estimated at $346 million in Augurst and $ 2.7 billion in the first eight months of this year, up 14.1 per cent year – on - year.
In the first 7 months of this year, the country’s exports of fruits and vegetables to China accounted for 74 per cent of the total with the export turnover of $1.7 billion, up by 12.4 per cent over the same period last year. Meanwhile, the exports of fruits and vegetables to Thailand increased by 38.6 per cent; to the U.S – up by 19.3 per cent; to South Korea – up by 28.7 per cent and to Malaysia – up by 12.9 per cent year – on – year.
The exports of cashew nuts were estimated at 30,000 tons worth of $254 million in August and 238,000 tons worth of $2.2 billion in the first seven months of this year, up by 5.8 per cent in quantity and 0.6 per cent in value over the same period last year. In the first 7 months of this year, the U.S, the Netherlands and China were the three leading cashew import markets with the market shares of 38.6 per cent; 12.6 per cent and 10.3 per cent, respectively.
The country’s exports of coffee reached 143,000 tons worth of $260 million in August and 1.32 million tons worth of $2.5 billion in the first eight months of this year, up by 15.5 per cent in quantity but down by 2.5 per cent in value over the same period of 2017.
Meanwhile, the exports of pepper were estimated at 20,000 tons worth of $58 million in August and 173,000 tons worth of $576 million, up by 3.2 per cent in quanity but down by 36 per cent in value over the same period last year.
The exports of rubber were estimated at 163,000 tons worth of $207 million in August and 870,000 tons worth of $1.2 billion in the first eight months of this year, up by 8.2 per cent in quanitty but down by 11.8 per cent in value over the same period of 2017.
The exports of tea in the first eight months of this year were estimated at 81,000 tons worth of $ 133 million, down by 10.1 per cent in quantity and 7.4 per cent in value over the same period of 2017.
