Vietnam imported fruits and vegetables mostly from South East Asian countries
Friday, September 7,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam spent US$2.3 billion on imports of fruits and vegetables in the first seven months of this year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In July of this year, the country imported $195 million worth of fruits and vegetables, up by 45.2 per cent compared with the previous month.
The South East Asia was the biggest import market of fruits and vegetables in the first seven months of this year, accounted for 46.5 per cent of the total with $433.4 million, down by 9.75 per cent year – on – year.
The country also imported fruits and vegetables from Thailand, the U.S and New Zealand. The imports of fruits and vegetables from the U.S increased by 89.52 per cent to $90.9 million; and from Australia – up by
73.28 per cent to $55.7 million.

Besides, Vietnam also imported fruits and vegetables from other countries such as Malaysia, South Korea and Chile.
In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of fruits and vegetables from China increased by 48.34 per cent to $198.6 million.
Especially, the country’s imports of fruits and vegetables from South Korea increased sharply by 2.07 times or 107.04 per cent year – on – year to $12.9 million.
