Vietnam’s export of footwear increased by 9.42% in first seven months
Saturday, August 25,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s export of footwear reached over $1.4 billion in July 2018, down 1.37% month on month but up 10.11% year- on- year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Vietnam’s footwear export reached more than $9.1 billion in the first 7 months of 2018, up 9.42% over the same period last year.
United States was the largest footwear market of Vietnam in July 2018, accounting for 36.3% of total market share, up 14.78% month on month and up 17.38% year on year; bringing total footwear exports to the market in the first seven months of 2018 to more than $3.2 billion, up 13.48% over the same period last year.
The exports of footwear to China reached $145 million, accounting for 10.1 of total market share, up 7.83% month on month and up 42.9% year on year; bringing the total export turnover footwear to this market up to $812 million, up 30.43% year on year. The exports of footwear to Belgium reached $82 million, down 13.39% month on month but up 19.68% year on year, accounting for 5.8% of total market share, bringing the total export to this market to $543 million, up 3.95% year on year. Japan with $73 million, down 8.33% month on month but up 5.47% year on year, accounting for 5% of total turnover; Germany with $ 64 million, accounting for 4.5% of total turnover, down 17.29% month on month and down 27.33% year on year; Finally, the Netherlands has more than $62 million, accounting for 4.4% of total turnover, down 10.77 month on month but up 12.6% year on year, bringing the total export turnover in this market, up to 359 million USD, up 8.74% year on year.
In the first seven months of 2018, Vietnam's footwear exports to some markets grew strongly; first was Portugal with $2.8 million, up 108.16% year on year; second place was India with 57 million, up 62.47% over the same period; followed by Argentina with over $61 million, up 49.43% over the same period, followed by Finland with over $ 11 million, up 34.32% over the same period.
However, some footwear export markets saw a sharp fall including the UAE with $58 million, a sharp drop of 26.39 percent year on year, followed by Austria with $ 15 million, down 22.14 percent year on year, Denmark with $21 million, down 21.47% year on year, Germany with over $524 million, down 9.73% year on year, Isareal with over $21 million, down 8.65% year on year.
The footwear export turnover has grown sharply in some markets, thanks to the contribution of FDI enterprises, the rest of the domestic enterprises are mainly outsourced.
