Vietnam’s imports of textiles and leather and footwear accessories totaled $502 million in first seven months

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported import $502 million of textiles, leather and footwear in July 2018, up 2.14% over the previous month and up 5.66% compared with the same month last year showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Generally, the country imported more than USD3.3 billion in the first 7 months of 2018, an increase of 3.74% over the same period last year.

In July 2018, Vietnam’s imports of this product mainly from China accounted of  35% of the total with US$175 million, down 4.01% compared with the previous month but up 9.28% over the same month last year, bringing the total import value of this item from China to more than 1.2 billion in the first 7 months of 2018, up 3.89% over the same period last year.

The imports from South Korea reached more than USD78 million, accounting for 15.7% of total turnover, up 3.51% over the previous month and up 4.2% over the same month last year; bringing the total import turnover to $456 million in the first 7 months of 2018, down 1.65% over the same period last year. The third largest market was the United States with nearly $35 million, accounting for 7% of total turnover, up 8.08% over the previous month and up 27.26% over the same month last year, bringing the total turnover from this market is up $221 million in the first 7 months of 2018, up 12.53% over the same period last year. Finally, Taiwan is worth $34 million, accounting for 6.8% of total turnover, down 5.15% over the previous month and down 6.84% over the same month last year; bringing the total turnover from the market to $265 million in the first 7 months of 2018, down 9.32% over the same period last year.

In the first seven months of 2018, Vietnam’s  imports of textiles and leather footwear from Canada increased 94.01% to $22 million. The imports from Netherlands increased 45.38 percent to $ 2.5 million; Britain increased 27.14 percent to $9.4 million; followed by Indonesia up 24.55 percent to $34 million. However, Vietnam’s  imports of textiles and leather footwear from Canada down 52.99 percent from the same period last year to $6.2 million, followed by Brazil by 34.41 percent to $57 million; from France decreased 34.14% to 2.5 million USD; from Argentina decreased 29.79% to 18 million USD.
