Leading import items in first seven months of 2018
Friday, August 31,2018AsemconnectVietnam - In July of 2018, Vietnam’s imports of goods increased by 10 per cent over the previous month to US$20.95 billion showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the imports telephones and components increased by $528 million over the previous month; computers, electronics and components - up by $219 million; machines, equipment and spare parts, - up by $142 million; CBU autos and spare parts – up by $52 million. However, the imports of petroleum of all kinds in July decreased by $400 million compared with the previous month; and the imports of animal feed and materials – down by $140 million.
In the first seven months of 2018, Vietnam’s imports of goods increased by 11.1 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the imports of coal of all kinds increased by 71.6 per cent; iron and steel scraps – up by 56.9 per cent; ordinary metals – up by 35.6 per cent; fibers of all kinds – up by 33 per cent; cotton – up by 32.7 per cent; and petroleum – up by 31.6 per cent year – on – year.
The leading import items in the first seven moths of this year were as followed:
Computers, electronics and components: Vietnam spent over $3.38 billion for imports of computers, electronic products and components in July of 2018 and $23.15 billion in the first seven months of 2018, up by 13.9 per cent compared with the same period of 2017.
The major import markets of computers, electronic products and components in the first seven months of this year were South Korea with $9.79 billion, up by 18.4 per cent year – on – year; China - $3.95 billion, up by 3.4 per cent; Japan - $ 2.12 billion, up by 30.5 per cent.
Machines, equipment, tools and spare parts: : The country imported $2.94 billion worth of machines, equipment, tools and spare parts in July and $18.87 billion in the first seven months of this year, down by 6.4 per cent year – on - year.
The main import markets of machines, equipment, tools and spare parts in the first seven months of this year were China with $6.51 billion, up by 4.1 per cent year – on – year; South Korea – $3.69 billion, down by 37 per cent; and Japan - $2.52 billion, up by 0.2 per cent over the same period of 2017.
Telephones and components: Vietnam imported over $1.4 billion worth of telephones and components in July and $7.39 billion in the first seven months of this year, down by 0.6 per cent compared with the same period of 2017.
The main import markets of telephones and components in the period were China with $4.33 billion, up by 11.3 per cent year – on – year; and South Korea - $2.58 billion, down by 6.8 per cent.
Fabrics of all kinds: Vietnam’s imports of fabrics of all kinds reached $1.13 billion in July and $7.39 billion in the first seven months of this year, increased by 14.4 per cent over the same period of 2017.
The major import markets of fabrics of all kinds in the first seven months of this year were China with $4.05 billion, up by 18.2 per cent; South Korea - $1.3 million, up by 9 per cent; and Taiwan - $932 million, up by 3 per cent; and Japan - $433 million, up by 16.1 per cent.
Iron and steel of all kinds: The country imported 1.18 million tons of iron and steel of all kinds worth of $879 million in July and 8.05 million tons worth of $5.8 billion in the first seven months of this year, down by 10.4 per cent in quantity but up by 10.4 per cent in value year – on - year.
In the first seven months of this year, the country imported 3.88 million tons of iron and steel of all kinds worth of over $2.77 billion from China, down by 13.3 per cent in quantity but up by 10.5 per cent in value year – on - year; from Japan – 1.29 million tons worth of $909 million, down by 1 per cent in quantity but up by 15.6 per cent in value.
Petroleum of all kinds: The imports of petroleum of all kinds totaled 820,000 tons worth of $558 million in July, decreased sharply by 41.7 per cent in quantity and 41.8 per cent in value over the previous month.
The figure brought the country’s total petroleum imports in the first seven months of this year to 7.8 million tons worth of $5.2 billion, up by 3.9 per cent in quantity and 31.6 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
The country’s top import markets of petroleum of all kinds the first seven months of this year were Malaysia with 2.2 million tons, up by 50.5 per cent year – on – year; South Korea – 1.97 million tons, up by 11.6 per cent. Especially, the imports of petroleum from Singapore reached only 1.81 million tons, down by 40.5 per cent over the same period last year.
Plastics: The imports of plastics totaled 432,000 tons worth of $720 million in July, down by 4.3 per cent in quantity and 3.4 per cent in value over the previous month. The figure brought the country’s total imports of plastics in the first seven months of this year to 3.09 million tons worth of $5.04 billion, up by 8.4 per cent in quantity and by 18 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
The country’s top import markets of plastics in the first seven months of this year were South Korea with 535,000 tons worth of $925 million, up by 4.1 per cent in quantity and 11.6 per cent in value year – on – year; the U.A.E – 578,000 tons worth of $740 million, up by 4.5 per cent in quantity and 16.8 per cent in value; and Taiwan – 426,000 tons worth of $707 million, up by 11 per cent in quantity and 18.6 per cent in value.
Textile, garment, leather and footwear materials: The country’s imports of textile, garment, leather and footwear materials reached $502 million in July and $3.32 billion in the first seven months of this year, up by 3.7 per cent over the same period last year.
The major import markets of textile, garment, leather and footwear materials the first seven months of this year were China with the import value of $1.24 billion, up by 3.9 per cent; South Korea - $456 million, down by 1.6 per cent; Taiwan (CN) - $266 million, down by 9.3 per cent year – on – year.
Plastic products: The imports of plastic products reached $496 million in July and totaled $3.28 billion in the first seven months of this year, up by 11.1 per cent year – on - year.
The country’s top import markets of plastic products in the first seven months of this year were China with $1.16 billion, up by 16.8 per cent year – on – year; South Korea – $975 million, up by 9.1 per cent; and Japan – $480 million, up by 6.9 per cent.
Chemicals: The imports of chemicals reached $443 million in July and totaled $2.9 billion in the first seven months of this year, up by 26.7 per cent year – on - year.
The country’s top import markets of plastic products in the first seven months of this year were China with $906 billion, up by 26.4 per cent year – on – year; Taiwan – $378 million, up by 35.5 per cent; and South Korea – $245 million, up by 27.7 per cent.
