Vietnam’s exports of crude oil and imports of petrol in first half of 2018
Sunday, August 5,2018AsemconnectVietnam - According tothe statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of crude oil in the first half of this year fell sharply over the same period last year, but the imports of petrol increased.
Vietnam exported 1.88 million tons of crude oil worth of US$1.05 billion in the first six months of this year, decreased sharply by 50.9 per cent in quantity and 31.4 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In June, the country exported 313,503 tons of crude oil worth of $ 178.82 million, down by 7.2 per cent in quantity and 11.1 per cent in value over the previous month. The figure was down by 67.6 per cent in quantity and 47.4 per cent in value over the same period of 2017.
The average crude oil export price in the first six months of this year was at $556.5 per ton, increased by 39.7 per cent over the same period last year.
China was the country’s biggest crude oil export market in the first six months of this year with 489,802 tons worth of $ 272.07 million, decreased by 63.9 per cent in quantity and by 50.5 per cent in value compared with the same period last year; and accounted for 26 per cent of the total.
It was followed by Thailand with 375,016 tons worth of $213.1 million, down by 30 per cent in quantity and 2 per cent in value; and Australia – 340,258 tons worth of $ 191.02 million.
In the first six months of this year, the country’s exports of crude oil to the U.S rocketed by 294.2 per cent in quantity and 382 per cent in value to 132,671 tons worth of $ 68.42 million.
However, the exports of crude oil to Singapore decreased by 73 per cent in quantity and 63 per cent in value to 138,760 tons worth of $74.14 million; and to Japan – down by 60.4 per cent in quantity and 43.6 per cent in value to 217,306 tons worth of $124.58 million.
Petrol imports increased 11.5 per cent in quantity and 40.4 per cent in value
Vietnam imported 7.07 million tons of petrol worth of US$4.66 billion in the first six months of this year, increased by 11.5 per cent in quantity and 40.4 per cent in value compared with the same period last year, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In June, the country imported 1.41 million tons of petrol valued at $958.63 million, up by 11.9 per cent in quantity and 9.8 per cent in value month – on – month.
The average petrol import price reached $681.6 per ton in June and $658.9 per ton in the first six months of this year, up by 25.9 per cent year – on – year.
In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of petrol from Singapore decreased sharply by 36.4 per cent in quantity and 17.2 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to 1.7 million tons worth of $1.08 billion.
Meanwhile, the imports of petrol from Russia rocketed by 11.5 times in quantity and 15.8 times in value to 60,361 tons worth of $ 51.24 million.
The imports of petrol from Malaysia increased sharply by 63.5 per cent in quantity and 120.7 per cent in value to 2.01 million tons worth of $1.24 billion; from South Korea – up by 24.8 per cent in quantity and 44.7 per cent in value to 1.84 million tons worth of $1.32 billion; and from China – up by 54.6 per cent in quantity and 105.1 per cent in value to 790,725 tons worth of $ 534.34 million.
