Cashew exports increased in first half of 2018
Saturday, July 21,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam earned US$1.7 billion from exports of 175,078 tons of cashew nuts in the first six months of this year, increased by 15.7 per cent in quantity and 15.4 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The average cashew export price was at $ 9,068 per ton in May and $ 9,699 per ton in the first six months of this year.
In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of cashew nuts to Ukraine increased sharply by 275.9 per cent in quantity and 335.3 per cent in value year – on – year; while the exports of cashew nuts to Greece increased sharply by 133.6 per cent in quantity and 139.9 per cent in value to 278 tons worth of $2.8 million; to the Philippines – up by 94.5 per cent in quantity and 123 per cent in value; to France – up by 73.2 per cent in quantity and 73.8 per cent in value; to South Africa – up by 48.8 per cent in quantity and 60.6 per cent in value.
However, in the period, the country’s exports of cashew nuts to Pakistan fell sharply by 93.5 per cent in quantity and by 94 per cent in value to 14 tons worth of $0.13 million; to the U.A.E – down by 18.8 per cent in quantity and by 16 per cent in value; to Australia – down by 15.7 per cent in quantity and 17 per cent in value year – on – year.
The U.S was the country’s biggest cashew export market of Vietnam in the first six months of this year with 66,416 tons worth of $646.82 million, up by 21.5 per cent in quantity and 19 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the exports of cashew nuts to the Netherlands reached 21,115 tons worth of $218.37 million, down by 6.4 per cent in quantity and 1.9 per cent in value; to China – 18,497 tons worth of $ 178.03 million, up by 0.7 per cent in quantity and 0.5 per cent in value.
