Crude oil exports fell nearly 51% in first half of 2018

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam exported 1.88 million tons of crude oil worth of US$1.05 billion in the first six months of this year, decreased sharply by 50.9 per cent in quantity and 31.4 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The average crude oil export price in the first six months of this year was at $556.5 per ton, increased by 39.7 per cent over the same period last year.
China was the country’s biggest crude oil export market in the first six months of this year with 489,802 tons worth of $ 272.07 million, decreased by 63.9 per cent in quantity and by 50.5 per cent in value compared with the same period last year; and accounted for 26 per cent of the total.
It was followed by Thailand with 375,016 tons worth of $213.1 million, down by 30 per cent in quantity and 2 per cent in value; and Australia – 340,258 tons worth of $ 191.02 million.
In the first six months of this year, the country’s exports of crude oil to the U.S rocketed by 294.2 per cent in quantity and 382 per cent in value to 132,671 tons worth of $ 68.42 million.
However, the exports of crude oil to Singapore decreased by 73 per cent in quantity and 63 per cent in value to 138,760 tons worth of $74.14 million; and to Japan – down by 60.4 per cent in quantity and 43.6 per cent in value to 217,306 tons worth of $124.58 million.
