Vietnam’s seafood exports totaled US$3.97 billion in first half of 2018
Wednesday, July 18,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of seafood increased 10.9 per cent year – on – year in the first six months of this year to US$3.97 billion, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In June, the country earned $764.04 million, slightly decreased by 0.2 per cent over the previous month.
In the first half of this year, the U.S has surpassed Japan to become the leading seafood export market of Vietnam with the export turnover of $632.78 million, down by 0.7 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 15.9 per cent of the total.
It was followed by Japan with $615.07 million, up by 4.7 per cent; China - $482.11 million – up by 12.1 per cent; South Korea - $390.7 million, up by 19.4 per cent; the Netherlands - $157.75 million, up by 56 per cent; Thailand - $130.69 million, up by 16.6 per cent; and Britain - $127.12 million, up by 16.8 per cent.
In the first six months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of seafood to Cambodia increased sharply by 94.7 per cent to $ 12.11 million; to Pakistan – up by 72.8 per cent to $ 12.32 million; to the U.A.E – up by 67.5 per cent to $40.14 million; to Egypt – up by 66.6 per cent to $21.57 million; to the Netherlands – up by 56 per cent to $157.75 million; and to Turkey –up by 50.9 per cent to $4.86 million.
However, the exports of seafood to Saudi Arabia decreased sharply by 55.3 per cent to $14.06 million; to Indonesia – down by 37.9 per cent to $2.18 million; to Czech – down by 36.6 per cent to $3.29 million; to Brazil – down by 28 per cent to $39.35 million; and to Denmark – down by 27.2 per cent to $18.75 million.
