Exports of crude oil and coal in five months

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first five months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of crude oil decreased, but the exports of coal increased, according to the figures of the General Department of Customs.

The country’s exports of crude oil fell sharply by 44 per cent in quantity and 25.6 per cent in value year – on – year in the first five months of this year to 1.56 million tons worth of $ 859.4 million, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

However, the crude oil export price was up by 32.7 per cent year – on – year to $ 549.5 per ton in the first five months.

China was the country’s biggest crude oil export market in the first five months of this year with the export turnover of nearly 405,297 tons worth of $ 222.95 million, down by 63.7 per cent in quantity and 51.8 per cent in value over the same period last year.

It was followed by Thailand with 294,096 tons worth of $ 165.93 million, down by 16.2 per cent in quantity but up by 12.9 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.

The exports of crude oil to Australia increased by 16.3 per cent in quantity and 58.4 per cent in value year – on – year to 259,896 tons worth of $ 143.48 million.

Meanwhile, the exports of crude oil to the U.S increased sharply by 294.2 per cent in quantity and 382 per cent in value to 132,671 tons worth of $ 68.42 million.

However, in the first five months of this year, the country’s exports of coal increased.
The country’s exports of coal saw a year – on – year increase of 15.5 per cent in quantity and 3.9 per cent in value in the first five months of this year to 1 million tons worth of $ 133.7 million, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In May, the country’s exports of coal increased sharply by 77.2 per cent in quantity and 96.1 per cent in value compared with the previous month to 277,100 tons worth of $ 38.5 million.

Vietnam’s major coal export markets were South East Asian countries, which accounted for 19 per cent of the total. Of the figure, the exports of coal to Japan reached 454,400 tons worth of $ 58.4 million, down by 4.91 per cent in quantity and 6.64 per cent in value.

The exports of coal to South Korea rocketed by 4.5 folds in quantity and 6.6 folds in value to 164,100 tons worth of $ 21.2 million.
