Rubber exports increased sharply

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of rubber totaled 442,000 tons worth of US$ 647.1 million in the first five months of this year, increased by 22.6 per cent in quantity but decreased by 8.4 per cent in value over the same period of 2017, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In May, the country’s exports of rubber reached 108,800 tons worth of $ 157.2 million, up by 54 per cent in quantity and 55.2 per cent in value over the previous month.
Vietnam exported rubber to over 26 countries and territories in the world, leading by China with 275,510 tons worth of $ 396.7 million, up by 24.8 per cent in quantity but down by 8.34 per cent in value year – on – year.
It was followed by Malaysia with 18,100 tons worth of $ 25 million, down by 2.08 per cent in quantity and 22.46 per cent in value.
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of rubber to Ukraine reached 125 tons worth of $ 223,800, increased sharply by 212.5 per cent in quantity and 124.76 per cent in value; to Sweden – 826 tons worth of $ 1.24 million, up by 140.82 per cent in quantity and 80.65 per cent in value.
However, the exports to South Korea decreased sharply by 27.63 per cent in quantity and 46.29 per cent in value to 12,300 tons worth of $ 19.4 million.
