Exports of coffee reached US$ 1.7 billion in five months
Tuesday, July 3,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam exported 877,804 tons of coffee worth of US$ 1.7 billion in the first five months of this year, increased by 23.8 per cent in quantity and 5.7 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The average coffee export price in the first five months of this year was at $ 1,932.5 per ton, down by 14.6 per cent year – on – year.
Germany was the country’s biggest coffee export market of Vietnam in the first five months of this year with 114,545 tons worth of $ 208.72 million, down by 7.8 per cent in quantity and 22.6 per cent in value over the same period last year.
It was followed by the U.S with 89,764 tons worth of $ 174.35 million, down by 14 per cent in quantity and 26.7 per cent in value compared with the same period last year; and then Italy – 63,701 tons worth of $ 118.61 million, up by 2.4 per cent in quantity and down by 13.2 per cent in value.
In the first five months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of coffee to Indonesia rocketed by 997 per cent in quantity and 771 per cent in value to 52,408 tons worth of $ 101.57 million; to South Africa – up by 275.7 per cent in quantity and 219.9 per cent in value to 4,884 tons worth of $ 8.88 million; to Greece – up by 157.7 per cent in quantity and 114.4 per cent in value to 5,401 tons worth of $ 9.97 million; to Russia – up by 108.8 per cent in quantity and 76.8 per cent in value to 39,807 tons worth of $ 84.26 million; to Denmark – up by 98.8 per cent in quantity and 72 per cent in value to 1,171 tons worth of $ 2.21 million.
However, the exports of coffee to Singapore fell sharply by 52.4 per cent in quantity and 59.3 per cent in value to 562 tons worth of $ 1,64 million; and the exports to the U.S, Belgium, Germany and Canada decreased sharply by 26.7 per cent; 25.2 per cent; 22.6 per cent and 20.6 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
