In May, the country’s imports of fruits and vegetables reached $ 145.55 million, increased by 30.2 per cent over the previous month but decreased by 20.7 per cent over the same month of last year.

Thailand and China were the country’s biggest import markets of fruits and vegetables of Vietnam in the first five months of this year with the total import value of $ 385.5 million, accounted for over 64 per cent of the total.

The imports of fruits and vegetables from Thailand reached $ 274.69 million, down by 4.2 per cent over the same period last year while the imports from China reached $ 110.8 million, up by 39.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, the imports of fruits and vegetables from the U.S increased sharply by 93.3 per cent year – on – year to $ 54.74 million; from Australia – up by 105 per cent to $ 33.12 million; from Brazil – down by 12.8 per cent to $ 2.12 million; and from New Zealand – up by 22.9 per cent to $ 15.57 million.
