Vietnam – Canada trade exchange to be strengthened
Wednesday, June 20,2018AsemconnectVietnam - The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Canada in the first five months of this year increased slightly by 6.3 per cent over the same period last year to US$ 1.45 billion, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
So in the first five months, the country got $ 724.72 million of surplus in trade exchange with Canada, increased by 3.1 per cent over the same months of 2017.
Wheat was leading the list of items imported by the country from Canada in the first five months of this year with the import value of $ 48.08 million, accounted for 13.2 per cent of the total and decreased by 35 per cent year - on - year.
Meanwhile, the imports of fertilizer increased by 12 per cent to $ 28.78 million; soybean - down by 59 per cent to $ 23.67 million; machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 16.88 million, up by 25.5 per cent; textile, garment, leather and footwear materials - $ 13.14 million, down by 72 per cent; wood and furniture - $ 11.06 million, down by 51 per cent; seafood - $ 10.5 million, down by 77.7 per cent.
In the first five months of this year, the country’s imports of rubber from Canada rocketed by 822.4 per cent to $ 0.55 million; computers, electronics and components - up by 152.8 per cent to $ 4.07 million; ordinary metals - up by 142 per cent to $ 4.92 million; iron and steel scraps - up by 128.5 per cent to $ 8.5 million; pharmaceuticals - up by 115.4 per cent to $ 7.81 million.
However, the imports of CBU autos; ores and minerals; soybean, iron and steel; and animal feed decreased by 78.8 per cent; 60.7 per cent; 59 per cent; 57.2 per cent and 50.7 per cent, respectively over the same period last year.
