Of the figure, Vietnam exported US$ 13.82 billion worth of goods to the U.S, increased by 11 per cent over the same period last year, and imported $3.51 billion from the U.S, up by 16.3 per cent year – on - year.

 

So in the first four months of this year, Vietnam got $ 10.31 billion of surplus in trade exchange with the U.S, increased by 9.4 per cent over the same period last year.

Computers, electronics and components were leading the list of items imported by the country from the
U.S with $ 976.1 million in the first four months of this year, accounted for 27.8 per cent of the total and increased by 9.2 per cent year – on – year.  

It was followed by cotton of all kinds with $ 485.91 million, up by 3 per cent; and then machines, equipment and spare parts - $ 286.98 million, up by 3.5 per cent; animal feed and materials - $ 198.11 million, up by 28.6 per cent.

In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s import of ordinary metals from the U.S increased sharply by 136.4 per cent to $ 4.37 million; iron and steel scraps – up by 121.6 per cent to $ 128.94 million; means of transport and spare parts – up by 116.3 per cent to $ 100.29 million; fruits and vegetables – up by 115.8 per cent to $ 45.45 million.

However, the imports of telephones and components from the U.S decreased sharply by 94.6 per cent to over $ 1.86 million; and the imports of autos; cameras; glass; and pesticides from the US also decreased by 91.7 per cent; 79 per cent; 36.2 per cent and 35.8 per cent, respectively over the same period last year.
