Rice exports increased sharply in 4 months
Tuesday, May 15,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of rice increased by 23.8 per cent in quantity and 39.7 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to over 2.2 million tons worth of US$ 1.11 billion, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In April only, the country exported 721,379 tons of rice worth of $ 364.37 million, up by 9.5 per cent in quantity and 7.7 per cent in value compared with the previous month.
China was the country’s biggest rice export market of Vietnam in the period with 699,660 tons worth of $ 370.84 million, accounted for 31.8 per cent of the total quantity and 33.5 per cent of the total value. The figure was down by 14.2 per cent in quantity and 1.4 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
The exports of rice to Indonesia reached 384,493 tons worth of $ 180.73 million, up by 384 times in quantity and 333 times in value year – on – year.
Meanwhile, the exports of rice to Malaysia reached 238,671 tons worth of $ 105.29 million, up by 186.4 per cent in quantity and 211.3 per cent in value; and to the Philippines – 183,792 tons worth of $ 82.23 million, down by 22.3 per cent in quantity and 8.8 per cent in value.
In the first four months of this year, the country’s exports of rice to Bangladesh increased sharply by 91 times in quantity and 61 times in value year – on – yearw; to Turkey – up by 13 times in quantity and 17 times in value; to Iraq – up by 11 times in quantity and 16 times in value; to France – up by 361 per cent in quantity and 209 per cent in value.
However, the exports of rice to Brunei – down by 96 per cent in quantity and in value; to Chile – down by 95 per cent in quantity and 90 per centin value; to Senegal – down by 91 per cent in quantity and 89 per cent in value; to Angola – down by 86 per cent in quantity and 83 per cent in value; to Belgium – down by 90 per cent in quantity and 83 per cent in value; to Ukraine – down by 78 per cent in quantity and 70 per cent in value.
