Vietnam: April, 2018: Total value of exports and imports decreased 10.8% over the previous month

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the Customs Department, in April, the total import and export value of goods in the country was estimated at USD 35.7 billion, down 10.8% against March 1818 (of which, Export value was estimated at USD 18.2 billion, decreased by 13.9%, import value was USD 17.5 billion, decreased by 7.3%).

With the above results, in the first 4 months of 2018, the total import and export turnover of Vietnam is estimated at $ 144.13 billion, an increase of 14.4% over the same period of 2017 reaching USD 73.76 billion, increasing 19%, importing USD 70.37 billion, increasing 10.1% over the same period of 2017).
 
Vietnam's trade balance in April 2018 estimated a surplus of $ 700 million. Through it, bringing a surplus of Vietnam until the end reaching 3.39 in April 2018 billion.
 
During the month, most of export items mainly decreased in value of export compared to last month, namely: Telephone and accessories estimated export value reached $ 4 billion, down 24.1% over last month; Textiles and garments are estimated at US $ 2.2 billion, down 5.1% over the previous month; Computers, electronic products and components estimated export value to reach $ 2 billion, down 11.1% over the previous month; Footwear exports were valued at $ 1.1 billion, down 7.8% from the previous month; Wood and wood products are estimated at US $ 680 million, down 6.2 percent month on month; Seafood export value is estimated at $ 650 million, down 7.4% over the previous month; Coffee export value is 160 thousand tons, down 20.1% over the previous month and valued at 304 million USD, down 21.6%; Crude oil export value was estimated at 248 thousand tons, down 22.6% and worth $ 147 million, down 11.3% over the previous month.
 
In addition, some import items are estimated to decrease in value such as computers, electronic products (estimated at $ 3 billion, down 18.9%); Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts (estimated import $ 2.6 billion, down 4.4%); petroleum products (estimated import of 1 million tons, down 18.4% and value of 630 million USD, down 19.6%); Raw materials (estimated import is $ 707 million, down 10.6%); chemicals (estimated at $ 420 million, down 5.5%); Some import items are estimated to increase in import value such as fabrics (estimated at US $ 1 billion, up 12%); Raw materials for textile, garment, leather and footwear (estimated at USD 500 million, up 1.9%); Iron and steel (estimated at US $ 810 million, up 8.6%).
