Seafood exports to Cambodia rocketed
Sunday, April 22,2018AsemconnectVietnam - In the first quarter of this year, Vietnam’s exports of seafood increased by nearly 17 per cent over the same period last year to nearly US$ 1.77 billion showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
EU was the country’s biggest seafood export market in the period with the export turnover of $ 303.78 million, up by 25.9 per cent year – on – year. It was followed by the U.S with $ 271.43 million, up by 8.1 per cent; Japan - $ 263.99 million, up by 4.4 per cent; China - $ 205.5 million, up by 42.2 per cent; and South Korea - $ 179.15 million, up by 27.2 per cent.
The exports of seafood to the South East Asian countries reached $ 143.85 million, up by 16.3 per cent year – on – year.
In the first quarter of this year, the country’s exports of seafood to Cambodia increased by 133.3 per cent to $ 6.64 million; to Turkey – up by 131.3 per cent to $ 1.89 million; to Pakistan – up by 90.8 per cent to $ 10.47 million; to India – up by 57.9 per cent to $ 7.42 million; to the Netherlands – up by 55.7 per cent to $ 66.98 million; to Portugal – up by 54.3 per cent to $ 13 million; and to Iraq – up by 50.7 per cent to $ 1.82 million.
However, the exports of seafood to Indonesia, Brazil and Ukraine decreased sharply by 62.6 per cent; 35 per cent and 28.4 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
