Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and materials slightly in the first months of 2018

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and materials increased sharply in January, then saw decrease in February and increased again in March.

So the total figure of the first quarter of this year saw slight increase.
The country imported some wheat, corn, soybean; oil and grease as materials for producing animal feed and materials in the period.

First quarter: imports of animal feed and materials increased slightly
Vietnam imported US$ 342 million worth of animal feed and materials in March, increased by 40.13 per cent over the previous month and by 11.13 per cent over the same month of last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

The figure brought the country’s total imports of animal feed and materials in the first 3 months of this year to $ 921 million, up by 0.22 per cent year – on – year.
In the first three months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and materials from Brazil reached over $ 80 million, rocketed by 756.91 per cent compared with the same period last year; from Belgium – nearly $ 10 million, up by 138.88 per cent; from Mexico – over $ 1.3 million, up by 129.13 per cent; and from India – over $ 68 million, up by 68.9 per cent.

Argentina was the country’s biggest import market of animal feed and materials in February with $ 101 million, up by 8.13 per cent over the previous month and but down by 16.8 per cent over the same month of last year. The figure brought the total imports of animal feed and materials from Argentina in the first 3 months of this year to over $ 322 million, down by 21.33 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 35 per cent of the total.

The U.S followed with over $ 81 million in March, up by 162.68 per cent over the previous month and by 173.69 per cent over the same month of last year. The total imports of animal feed and materials from the U.S in the first quarter of this year reached over $ 147 million, up by 16.07 per cent year – on - year.
Meanwhile, the imports of animal feed and materials from Brazil reached over $ 30 million in March and over $ 80 million in the first 3 months of this year, rocketed by 756.91 per cent year – on – year.
Besides, Vietnam also imported animal feed and materials from India, China, Indonesia, Thailand and the U.A.E with the import value of $ 68 million; $ 53 million; $ 28 million; $ 26 million and $ 22 million, respectively.

In the first quarter of this year, Vietnam also imported wheat, corn, soybean; oil and grease as materials for producing animal feed and materials. The figures were as followed:
Wheat: Vietnam’s imports of wheat were estimated at 412,000 tons worth of $ 99 million in March and 1.2 million tons worth of $ 285 million in the first 3 months of this year, decreased by 20.1 per cent in quantity and 4.91 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017.

The leading wheat import markets in the first 3 months of this year were Australia with the market share of 40 per cent; Russia – 35 per cent; Canada – 11 per cent; the U.S – 6 per cent and Brazil – 4 per cent.
In the first 3 months of this year, the imports of wheat from the U.S increased by 8 times in quantity and 9 times in value, while the imports from Russia increased by 25 times in quantity and over 25 times in value. Meanwhile, the imports from Canada decreased sharply year – on - year.

Soybean:
Vietnam’s imports of soybean reached 115,000 tons worth of over $ 50 million in March and over 391,000 tons worth of $ 167 million in the first 3 months of this year, decreased by 13.1 per cent in quantity and 16.62 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017.

Corn:
The imports of corn reached 445,000 tons worth of $ 88 million in March and 1.9 million tons worth of $ 371 million in the first 3 months of this year, increased by 28.05 per cent in quantity and 20.66 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017.

Argentina and Brazil were the leading soybean import markets of Vietnam in the first 3 months of this year with 72 per cent and 25.4 per cent of the total market share, respectively.
Especially, in the first 3 months of this year, the imports of corn from Thailand decreased sharply, both in quantity and in value compared with the same period last year.

In first 2 months: Imports of animal feed and materials saw decrease
Vietnam imported US$ 244 million worth of animal feed and materials in February, decreased by 27.37 per cent over the previous month and by 30.62 per cent over the same month of last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

The figure brought the country’s total imports of animal feed and materials in the first 2 months of this year to $ 581 million, down by 4.93 per cent year – on – year.
In the first two months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of animal feed and materials from Mexico reached over $ 1 million, rocketed by 814 per cent compared with the same period last year; from Brazil – over $ 49 million, up by 677.21 per cent; from Belgium – over $ 6 million, up by 121.4 per cent; and from India – over $ 53 million, up by 105.36 per cent.

Argentina was the country’s biggest import market of animal feed and materials in February with $ 94 million, down by 26.5 per cent over the previous month and by 50.47 per cent over the same month of last year. The figure brought the total imports of animal feed and materials from Argentina in the first two months of this year to over $ 222 million, down by 22.66 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 38.3 per cent of the total.

The U.S followed with over $ 30 million in February and nearly $ 66 million in the first two months.
Meanwhile, the imports of animal feed and materials from Brazil reached over $ 21 million in February and over $ 49 million in the first two months of this year, rocketed by 677.21 per cent year – on – year.
Besides, Vietnam also imported animal feed and materials from India, China, Indonesia, the U.A.E and Thailand with the import value of $ 53 million; $ 37 million; $ 20 million; $ 12 million and $ 12 million, respectively.

In the first two months of this year, the country also imported wheat, corn, soybean; oil and grease as materials for producing animal feed and materials. The figures of the first two months were as followed:

Wheat: Vietnam’s imports of wheat were estimated at 111,000 tons worth of $ 25 million in February and 781,000 tons worth of $ 185 million in the first two months of this year, increased by 31.1 per cent in quantity and 52.82 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017.
The leading wheat import markets in the first two months of this year were Russia with the market share of 40 per cent; Australia – 29 per cent; Canada – 16 per cent; the U.S – 9 per cent and Brazil – 6 per cent.

In the first two months of this year, the imports of wheat from Brazil increased by 10 times in quantity and over 2 times in value, while the imports from the U.S increased by over 11 times in quantity and over 2 times in value. Meanwhile, the imports from Australia decreased by nearly 3 per cent.

Soybean: Vietnam’s imports of soybean reached 97,000 tons worth of $ 40 million in February and over 276,000 tons worth of $ 116 million in the first 2 months of this year, increased by 31.45 per cent in quantity and 25.91 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017.

Corn:
The imports of corn reached 537,000 tons worth of $ 104 million in February and 1.4 million tons worth of $ 282 million in the first two months of this year, increased by 22.22 per cent in quantity and 15.65 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017.
Argentina and Brazil were the leading soybean import markets of Vietnam in the first two months of this year with 69 per cent and 29 per cent of the total market share, respectively.
Especially, in the first two months of this year, the imports of corn from Thailand increased by 23 times in quantity and 28 times in value year – on – year.

In January: Imports of animal feed and materials increased sharply
Vietnam spent US$ 336 million on importing animal feed and materials in the first month of this year, increased sharply by 48.02 per cent over the previous month and by 30.2 per cent over the same month of last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In January, the country’s imports of animal feed and materials from Brazil reached $ 27 million, rocketed by 801.41 per cent; while the imports from Mexico reached 576,000, up by 420.26 per cent; Belgium – nearly $ 4 million, up by 228.79 per cent; and Germany – nearly $ 2 million, up by 222.37 per cent.

Argentina was the country’s biggest import market of animal feed and materials in January with $ 128 million, up by 48.48 per cent over the previous month and by 30.83 per cent over the same month of last year. It was followed by the U.S with over $ 35 million, up by 15.52 per cent month – on – month and down by 43.03 per cent year – on – year.

The other leading import markets of animal feed and materials were India, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Thailand and the U.A.E with the import value of $ 33 million; $ 27 million; $ 25 million; $ 13 million; $ 6.7 million; and $ 6.4 million.

Besides, Vietnam also imported wheat, corn, soybean, oil and grease as materials to produce animal feed in January of this year. The figures were as followed:

Wheat: Vietnam imported 727,000 tons of wheat worth of $ 171 million in January of this year, increased sharply by 218.5 per cent in quantity and 255 per cent in value compared with the same month of 2017. The leading import markets of wheat in January were Russia – accounted for 49 per cent; Australia – 24%; Canada – 14 per cent; Brazil – 4% and the U.S – 9%.

Soybean: The imports of soybean were at 42,000 tons worth of $ 19 million, down by 55.1 per cent in quantity and 54.65 per cent in value compared with the same month of 2017.

Corn: The imports of corn were estimated at 959,000 tons worth of $ 179 million, up by 62.46 per cent in quantity and 54.85 per cent in value compared with January of 2017.
Argentina and Brazil were the two leading import markets in January with the market shares of 63 per cent and 36 per cent, respectively. Especially, the imports of corn from Thailand increased by 1.5 times in quantity and 2 times in value year – on – year in January.
