China, South Korea and Japan – leading import markets of plastic products

Those markets accounted for 81 per cent of the country’s total imports of plastic products.
Vietnam imported US$ 872.15 million worth of plastic products in the first two months of this year, increased by 23.5 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs. In February only, the imports of plastics products were at $ 360.85 million, down by 29.5 per cent over the previous month and by 5.8 per cent over the same month of last year.

In the first two months of this year, the country’s imports of plastic products from China reached $ 306.97 million, up by 35.9 per cent year – on – year; while the imports from South Korea reached $ 280.25 million, up by 29.3 per cent; from Japan - $ 120.41 million, up by 9.7 per cent; from Taiwan - $ 37.9 million, up by 16.2 per cent; and from Thailand – $ 37.47 million, up by 9.3 per cent.
The imports of plastic products from the South East Asian countries reached $ 64.14 million, up by 0.2 per cent year – on – year.
In the first two months, the imports of plastic products from the Philippines increased sharply by 118.8 per cent to $ 4.6 million while the imports from Sweden – up by 108.6 per cent to $ 0.67 million.
However, the imports from the Netherlands, Singapore and Canada decreased by 69.4 per cent; 57 per cent and 54.4 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
