Coffee exports totaled over $ 640 million in first 2 months
Tuesday, April 10,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of coffee in February decreased sharply by 35.3 per cent in quantity and 35.9 per cent in value compared with the previous month to 129,893 tons worth of $ 251.3 million.
The figure was down by 11.3 per cent in quantity and 24.3 per cent in value compared with the same month of last year.
The country’s total coffee exports in the first two months of this year reached 329,829 tons worth of $ 641.57 million, up by 15.1 per cent in quantity but down by 1.1per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017. The average coffee export price in the first two months of this year was down by 14 per cent year – on – year to $ 1,945 per ton.
The leading coffee export markets in the first two months of this year were Germany, the U.S, Indonesia, Italy and Japan. The country’s exports of coffee to Germany accounted for over 15 per cent of the total quantity and 14 per cent of the total value with 49.716 tons worth of $ 90.26 million, down by 2 per cent in quantity and 18 per cent in value compared with the same months of 2017.
The exports of coffee to the U.S reached 37,010 tons worth of $ 72.27 million, down by 16.2 per cent in quantity and 28.7 per cent in value year – on – year.
Meanwhile, the exports of coffee to Indonesia rocketed by over 17 folds in quantity and over 15 folds in value compared with the same period last year to 28,665 tons worth of $ 54.28 million, accounted for over 8 per cent of the total.
The exports of coffee to EU reached 134,828 tons worth of $ 251.26 million, down by 3.8 per cent in quantity and by 18.4 per cent in value year – on – year.
The exports to the South East Asian countries increased sharply by 248.8 per cent in quantity and 181.7 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to 47,061 tons worth of $ 92.74 million.
In the first two months of this year, the country’s exports of coffee to Greece also increased sharply by 346.5 per cent to $ 4.68 million; to South Africa – up by 257 per cent to $ 3.72 million; to New Zealand – up by 90.5 per cent to $ 1.04 million; and to Egypt – up by 80 per cent to $ 3.81 million.
