In March, the exports of rice were estimated at 524,000 tons worth of $ 261 million, raising the total rice export volume in January-March to 1.36 million tons worth of $ 669 million, up by 9.4 per cent in volume and 24 percent in value compared with the same period of 2017.

Meanwhile, the exports of cashew nuts were estimated at 26,000 tons worth of $ 265 million in March and 73,000 tons worth of $ 739 million, up by 30.9 per cent in quantity and 43.6 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.

The exports of wood and furniture were estimated at $ 661 million in March and $ 1.87 billion in the first 3 months of this year, up by 5.8 per cent over the same period of 2017.
The country also earned $ 604 million from exports of seafood in March and $ 1.7 billion in the first 3 months of 2018, up by 11.5 per cent yearw – on – year. The U.S, Japan, China and South Korea were the leading seafood export market markets of Vietnam.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country’s imports of farm, forestry and seafood products were estimated at $ 2.43 billion in March and $ 6.89 billiion in the first 3 months of this year, up by 8.4 per cent year – on – year. Of the figure, the imports of farm, forestry and seafood products reached $ 5.42 billion, up by 19 per cent year – on - year.
