Auto imports decreased sharply
Tuesday, April 3,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s imports of autos fell sharply in two months of this year.
In the period, the country imported 562 autos worth of nearly US$ 35.31 million, decreased by 96.3 per cent in quantity and 88.6 per cent in value compared with the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the imports from Russia reached 285 units worth of $ 20.52 million fell by 23.8 per cent in quantity but up by 16.2 per cent in value year – on – year.
The imports of autos from China reached 95 units worth of $ 2.44 million, down by 79.2 per cent in quantity and 85.8 per cent in value while the figure from the U.S reached 51 units worth of $ 3.34 million, down by 86.6 per cent in quantity and 74 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
In January only, the country’s imports of autos also decreased. The imports of autos from Thailand saw the sharpest decrease.
The country’s total imports of autos in the first month of this year fell by 95.3 per cent in quantity and 85.8 per cent in value compared with the same period last year, and by 97.5 per cent in quantity and 94 per cent in value compared with the previous month, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Russia was leading the list of the country’s major auto import markets in January with 159 units worth of $ 12.1 million, down by 47.65 per cent in quantity but up by 10.2 per cent in value year – on – year.
It was followed by China with 65 units worth of $ 2 million, down by 30.85 per cent in quantity and 39.72 per cent in value; and then the U.S, Thailand, South Korea and Japan.
In January of this year, the country’s imports of autos from Thailand decreased sharply by 97.81 per cent; from South Korea – down by 97.81 per cent; and from Japan – down by 97.24 per cent.
