The average rice export price in the first two months of this year was up by 15.3 per cent year – on – year to $ 490.8 per ton.

China surpassed the Philippines as the leading rice export market of Vietnam in the period with 196,165 tons worth of $ 99.69 million, down by 18.7 per cent in quantity and 11.2 per cent in value compared with the same period last year and accounted for 24 per cent of the total.

The Philippines followed with 174,031 tons worth of $ 78.02 million, down by 15.8 per cent in quantity but up slightly by 0.01 per cent year – on – year; and then Indonesia – 169,500 tons worth of $ 80.67 million.

The country’s exports of rice to Malaysia in the first two months of this year increased sharply by 141 per cent in quantity and 166 per cent in value compared with the same period last year with 72,873 tons worth of $ 31.3 million.

The exports of rice to Iraq also increased sharply by 299 per cent in quantity and 468 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to 30,000 tons worth of $ 17.76 million.
