Main items exported in 2017

AsemconnectVietnam - Last year, the export turnover of 29 leading items reached US$ 195.93 billion, accounted for 91.5 per cent of the country’s total export turnover.

The top 5 items with the export turnover of over $ 10 billion were telephones and components; textiles and garments; computers, electronics and components; footwear of all kinds; machines, equipment and spare parts, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Telephones and components:
Vietnam exported $ 3.9 billion worth of telephones and components in December of 2017 and $ 45.27 billion in the whole year of 2017, up by 31.9 per cent compared with the year of 2016.
The main export markets of telephones and components in the period were EU (28 countries) with over $ 11.96 billion, up by 6.4 per cent year – on – year; China with $ 7.15 billion, up by 8 times; South Korea - $ 3.97 billion, up by 45.4 per cent; the U.A.E - $ 3.89 billion, up by 1.6 per cent.

Textiles and garments:
The country exported nearly $ 2.48 billion worth of textiles and garments in December and $ 26.04 billion in the year of 2017, up by 14.4 per cent and 9.3 per cent, respectively year – on - year.
The leading export markets of textiles and garments in 2017 were the U.S with $ 12.28 billion, up by 7.3 per cent year – on – year; EU (28 countries) - $ 3.79 billion, up by 6.3 per cent; Japan - $ 3.11 billion, up by 7.3 per cent; and South Korea - $ 2.64 billion, up by 15.8 per cent compared with the previous year.

Computers, electronic products and components:
 Vietnam earned $ 2.26 billion from export of computers, electronic products and components in December of 2017, down by 13.7 per cent compared with the same month of 2016. The figure brought the country’s total exports of computers, electronics and components in 2017 to $ 25.94 billion, increased sharply by 36.8 per cent compared with 2016.
The major export markets of computers, electronic products and components in the period were China with $ 6.86 billion, up by 69 per cent year – on – year; the E.U - $ 4.61 billion, up by 20.5 per cent; the U.S - $ 3.44 billion, up by 18.7 per cent.

Footwear of all kinds
: The export of footwear of all kinds reached $ 1.47 billion in December and $ 14.65 billion in the whole year of 2017, up by 12.7 per cent year – on - year.
The country’s top export markets of footwear of all kinds in 2017 were the U.S with $ 5.11 billion, up by 14.1 per cent year – on – year; the E.U (28 countries) - $ 4.65 billion, up by 10.2 per cent; China –$ 1.14 billion, up by 26.1 per cent.

Machines, equipment, tools and spare parts:
 The country earned nearly $ 1.14 billion from export of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts  in December and $ 12.77 billion in 2017, up by 28 per cent over the previous year.
The main export markets of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts in 2017 were the U.S with $ 2.43 billion, up by 14.1 per cent year – on – year; Japan –  $ 1.72 billion, up by 9.9 per cent; the EU (28 countries) – nearly $ 1.87 billion, up by 44.6 per cent over 2016.

Seafood:
 The country’s export of seafood hit $ 741 million in December of 2017, down by 3.6 per cent month – on – month. The figure brought the country’s total export of seafood in 2017 to $ 8.32 billion, up by 18 per cent year – on - year.
Last year, the country’s export of seafood to EU reached $ 1.46 billion, up by 22.1 per cent; the U.S – $ 1.41 billion, down by 1.9 per cent; to Japan – $ 1.3 billion, up by 18.6 per cent; and to China - $ 1.1 billion, up by 59.4 per cent over the previous year.
 
Wood and furniture: The country’s exports of wood and furniture hit $ 756 million in December, up by 8.8 per cent month – on – month. The figure brought the country’s total export of wood and furniture in 2017 to $ 7.66 billion, up by 10 per cent year – on - year.
Last year, the country’s exports of wood and furniture to the U.S reached $ 3.27 billion, up by 15.7 per cent; to China - $ 1.07 billion, up by 5 per cent; and to Japan - $ 1.02 billion, up by 4.4 per cent year – on - year.

Means of transport and spare parts:
 The country’s exports of means of transport and spare parts hit $ 627 million in December of 2017, up by 6.4 per cent month – on – month. The figure brought the country’s total export of means of transport and spare parts in 2017 to $ 6.99 billion, up by 15.4 per cent year – on - year.
Last year, the country’s export of means of transport and spare parts to Japan reached $ 2.18 billion, up by 13.9 per cent; to the U.S - $ 1.18 billion, up by 48.4 per cent; and to Thailand - $ 332 million, up by 3.9 per cent over the previous year.

Yarns of all kinds: 
Vietnam exported 122,000 tons of yarns of all kinds worth of $ 327 million in December of 2017, up by 1.3 per cent in quantity and 1.7 per cent in value month – on – month. The figure brought the country’s total export of yarns in 2017 to 1.35 million tons valued at $ 3.59 billion, up by 15.6 per cent in quantity and by 22.7 per cent in value over 2016.
In 2017, the country’s export of yarns of all kinds to China hit $ 2.04 billion, up by 23.7 per cent; to South Korea – $ 319 million, up by 20.5 per cent; and to Turkey – $ 159 million, down by 1.7 per cent year – on - year.

Cashew nuts:
Vietnam exported US$ 308 million worth of cashew nuts in December of 2017, down by 5.3 per cent over the previous month. In the whole year of 2017, the country’s exports of cashew nuts totaled $ 3.52 billion, up by 23.8 per cent year – on – year.
The leading export markets of cashew nuts in 2017 were the U.S with $ 1.22 billion, up by 25.7 per cent year – on – year, the EU – over $ 1 billion, up by 32.3 per cent; the Netherlands - $ 542 million, up by 41.6 per cent; China - $ 469 million, up by 11.2 per cent.

Fruits and vegetables:
 Vietnam’s exports of fruits and vegetables reached $ 324 million in December of 2017 and $ 3.5 billion in 2017, up by 42.5 per cent compared with 2016.
The leading export markets of fruits and vegetables of Vietnam in 2017 were China with $ 2.65 billion, up by 52.4 per cent; Japan - $ 127 million, up by 69.3 per cent; the U.S - $ 102 million, up by 20.9 per cent year – on – year.
