US$ 34.53 billion worth of goods exported to U.S
Sunday, December 10,2017AsemconnectVietnam - The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and the U.S totaled nearly US$ 42.12 billion in the first ten months of this year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Of the figure, the country exported $ 34.53 billon worth of goods to, and imported $ 7.58 billion worth of goods from the U.S, up by 9.6 per cent and 10.4 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
The U.S was still the country’s biggest export market of Vietnam and the second biggest trade partner of Vietnam after China.
In the first ten months of this year, the country’s exports of textiles and garments to the U.S reached $ 10.2 billion, up by 7.8 per cent over the same period last year; accounted for 29.5 per cent of the country’s total exports to the U.S and accounted for 47.6 per cent of the country’s total textile and garment exports.
Footwear of all kinds ranked second with $ 4.17 billion, up by 13.7 per cent; and then cell phones and accessories - $ 3.22 billion.
The other leading items in the period were computers, electronics and components - $ 2.81 billion, up by 15.4 per cent; wood and furniture - $ $ 2.66 billion, up by 18 per cent; machines, equipment and spare parts – over $ 2 billion, up by 17 per cent; seafood - $ 1.18 billion, down by 1.7 per cent; handbags, wallets, suitcases, hats and umbrellas - $ 1.15 billion, up by 4.7 per cent; and cashew nuts - $ 1.03 billion, up by 29 per cent.
In the first ten months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of cameras, camcorders and components to the U.S rocketed by 331 per cent to $ 51.94 million; while the exports of crude oil increased sharply by 63 per cent to $ 78.13 million; cashew nuts – up by 29 per cent to $ 1.03 billion; rubber - up by 38.7 per cent to $ 45.13 million.
However, the country’s exports of pepper, rice and iron and steel to the U.S fell sharply by 37 per cent; 32 per cent and 27 per cent, respectively year – on – year.
