Exports of farm products reached a new record high
Tuesday, December 5,2017AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of farm products were estimated at US$ 33.14 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 13.8 per cent over the same period last year.
The increase was attributed to the rising exports of seafood, fruits and vegetables, rice and rubber.
China, Japan, the U.S and South Korea were the country’s biggest export markets of fruits and vegetables in the first ten months of this year with the market shares of 75.6 per cent; 3.6 per cent; 2.9 per cent and 2.6 per cent, respectively.
In the first ten months of this year, the country’s exports of fruits and vegetables to Japan increased sharply by 67.6 per cent; to the U.A.E – up by 56.9 per cent; and to China – up by 52.7 per cent.
The country exported 389,000 tons of rice worth of $ 192 million in November and 5.49 million tons worth of $ 2.48 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 23.4 per cent in quantity and 24.2 per cent in value over the same period of 2016. China was the country’s biggest rice export market of Vietnam in the first ten months of this year with 39.8 per cent of the total market share.
The exports of rubber were estimated at 1.21 million tons worth of $ 2.01 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 8.2 per cent in quantity and 38.9 per cent in value over the same period last year.
China, Malaysia, and India were the country’s biggest rubber export markets of Vietnam in the first ten months of this year with the market shares of 63.1 per cent; 5.7 per cent and 4 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the exports of seafood were estimated at $ 728 million in November and $ 7.57 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 18.3 per cent year – on – year.
The U.S, Japan, China and South Korea were the country’s leading seafood export markets in the first ten months of this year, accounted for 58.2 per cent of the total market share.
In the first ten months of this year, the country’s exports of seafood to China increased sharply by 67.9 per cent; to the Netherlands – up by 47.5 per cent; to Britain – up by 35 per cent; to South Korea – up by 29.5 per cent; to Japan – up by 22.2 per cent; and to Canada – up by 22.7 per cent.
Besides, the country’s exports of tea increased by 10.2 per cent in quantity and 8.9 per cent in value year – on – year in the first 11 months; the exports of cashew nuts – up by 1 per cent in quantity and 23.2 per cent in value; wood and furniture – up by 10.5 per cent.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country’s exports of farm, forestry and seafood products were estimated at $ 2.05 billion in November and $ 25.21 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 13.6 per cent year – on – year.
